England’s record-wicket taker Jimmy Anderson awarded a knighthood

  • 42-year-old retired from England duty last July
  • Anderson knighted in Rishi Sunak’s resignation honours

Jimmy Anderson is to be awarded a knighthood for “services to cricket” a year on from the final Test of his record-breaking England career.

Anderson was widely tipped to have his previous OBE upgraded after retiring from international cricket last summer and on Friday was the only sportsperson to feature in the resignation honours list of former prime minister – and cricket fan – Rishi Sunak.

Brad Thomas (@MrBradThomas) is betting on Denver Nuggets -6.5…

Thomas: “Ideally, the Grizzlies go up early, and I can play the Nuggets live at a better price. However, I’m not exactly sure we get that. The Grizzlies haven’t been great and are coming off a loss last night.

Denver is one of the more difficult places to play on short rest. The Nuggets should take advantage of this.”

Report: Rumored Zegras to Canadiens Trade at 2024 Draft Clarified

Mar 18, 2025; Dallas, Texas, USA; Anaheim Ducks center Trevor Zegras (11) during the first period against the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center. Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

Talented Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras hasn’t been a stranger to trade speculation and rumors over the past 15 months. Speculation began following the Ducks' acquisition of Cutter Gauthier from the Philadelphia Flyers which sent Jamie Drysdale the other way.

Anaheim Ducks Prospect Spotlight: Six Prospects Advance in CHL Playoffs

Questions were raised about Zegras’ fit within the direction Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek envisioned for his club. The speculation evolved into rumors as opposing GMs picked up the phone to inquire about Zegras’ availability and reports surfaced that Verbeek “was listening” to offers.

Zegras was injured with a broken ankle at the 2024 trade deadline so calls cooled at that point, but rumors lasted through the draft, free agency, and the 2025 trade deadline.

The arrival of Montreal Canadiens’ 2024 fifth-overall draft pick Ivan Demidov unearthed a rumor surrounding the 2024 NHL Draft involving a trade proposal between the Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks that included Zegras.

The rumor began on Montreal-focused websites and was clarified on Friday, with a report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on his “32 Thoughts” column and podcast.

“Montreal was working on a deal for Zegras,” Friedman said. “They were trading for him and they were offering one player, I believe a young defenseman, and they were offering a first-round pick.”

The Canadiens held two first-round picks at the 2024 Draft, the fifth overall pick and the 21st.

“It wasn’t the number-five pick,” Friedman continued. “It was the pick that eventually drafted Michael Hage. That pick was in the deal to Anaheim. Where I think that changed was when Anaheim took (Beckett) Sennecke, Montreal realized Demidov was getting to them.

“I talked about this with Eric Engels on Tuesday and one of the things that Engels talks about covering the Canadiens all the time is that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton, they’re very careful about redundancy. They don’t like redundancy.

“I think they felt if they were going to draft Demidov, then that was going to lead to redundancy if they traded for Zegras.”

The young defenseman rumored (not by Friedman) to be coming back Anaheim’s way was former first-round pick (31st overall in 2021) Logan Mailloux.

To recap, the proposed trade was Trevor Zegras to the Canadiens in exchange for Logan Mailloux and the 2024 21st overall pick.

This trade would have altered the complexion of both teams heading into the 2024 Draft and free agency, as well as the 2024-25 season. The Canadiens are likely heading to the playoffs for the first time since their improbable run to the 2020-21 Stanley Cup Final.

The Ducks season has been more of a roller coaster, but they’re threatening to accumulate 80 points in the standings for the first time since the 2021-22 season when they totaled 76.

Zegras has received nothing but praise from Verbeek and Ducks head coach Greg Cronin this season. They’ve often remarked on his progression in terms of attention to detail and willingness to dedicate himself to becoming a 200-foot player.

Zegras has one year remaining on his three-year contract that carries an AAV of $5.75 million. He will become an RFA upon expiry and is also eligible for an extension on July 1, should the Ducks see him as a part of their long-term plans.

The Zegras rumors won’t cease until he’s either traded or extended, so the situation will continue to be monitored closely.

Warriors surviving non-Steph minutes requires more than just Butler

Warriors surviving non-Steph minutes requires more than just Butler originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

There is a first time for everything, and the Warriors experienced one this week that they never wish to go through again.

They lost a game in which Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler III combined for 58 points.

The Warriors were 8-0 when Curry and Butler totaled at least 50 points until San Antonio’s Harrison Barnes struck them down with a game-winning 3-pointer Thursday night at Chase Center. Fifty points always had been enough, and it should be a successful offensive formula.

The offensive stall against the Spurs was elsewhere. A repeat might not be difficult to overcome Friday night against the depleted Trail Blazers in Portland, but surely would put the Warriors in jeopardy Sunday against the Clippers – and any postseason game.

Curry and Butler carrying their respective scoring loads only can take the offense so far. Butler doesn’t beat teams with buckets. His stated goal is finding buckets for his team, particularly when Curry is off the floor.

Consider that Golden State’s best quarter against the Spurs was its 37-21 advantage in the third. The defense was tight, the offense flowing. It was a 10-assist quarter, and Butler had five. His last two dimes, finding Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga in the paint, provided an 88-76 lead.

That problem was that Butler’s playmaking efforts too often went unexploited.

Podziemski, whose hot streak of games ended with seven points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field, including 1 of 5 from deep. Moses Moody, whose scoring efficiency has regressed over the past month, finishing with seven points on 3-of-11 shooting, including 1 of 7 from distance.

It wasn’t just the low efficiency from those two starters that doomed the Warriors against the Spurs. It was the number of misses on open looks – generally set up by passes from Butler. His role on offense is to generate a high-percentage shot for a teammate and, failing that, look to score himself. Same as it was in Miami.

Butler’s 28 points – his highest total as a Warrior – against San Antonio came not out of desire but out of necessity. By the fourth quarter, he realized Podziemski and Moody were struggling to score, so he put in 13 points. Butler’s two assists in the fourth went to, yes, Curry.

The external pleas for Butler to be more aggressive with his shot is short-sighted and too simple a solution to the non-Steph minutes. Butler is an opportunistic scorer who makes the game easier for his other four teammates.
Butler led two Heat teams to the NBA Finals, not because he turned into Curry or some high-volume scoring machine. In 64 playoff games with Miami, Playoff Jimmy averaged 24.7 points. Averaged 17.6 field-goal attempts per game. He had the occasional outburst but mostly lifted the games of such teammates as Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, Caleb Martin, Kendrick Nunn and Haywood Highsmith.

Butler’s best attribute might be getting teammates paid by maximizing the attributes.

Butler going into “takeover mode” is best limited to emergency situations. He can have such moments during a game, but Golden State’s fortunes during the non-Steph minutes are not predicated on his scoring.

When Podziemski and Moody are making shots, usually off Butler’s playmaking, the Warriors can survive and sometimes thrive during the non-Steph minutes. They must know by now that their patience generally will be rewarded with open looks. If Moody can’t reverse his offensive slippage – 38 percent from the field, 29.7 from deep over the last 13 games – the offense will suffer.

When Buddy Hield and Kuminga are at their best – always a crapshoot – they can bring welcome smoke to action when Curry gets a few minutes to rest his 37-year-old bones.

Whether the Warriors land in the play-in tournament or the playoffs, they’re going to need those 50 points per game from Curry and Butler. They will on some occasions get more.

But it’s up to the others to fill the void, or else the Warriors will be prey for teams much better than the San Antonio Spurs.

Carolina Hurricanes' Russians Already Familiar, Ready To Help Fellow Countryman Alexander Nikishin With Transition

July 20, 2024: [Left to Right] Pyotr Kochetkov, Andrei Svechnikov, Alexander Nikishin and Dmitry Orlov pose for a photo at the NHL-KHL charity match in Moscow, Russia.

It can be a really difficult transition for rookies coming to the NHL for the first time.

Not only are they trying to fit into the locker room as a the new guy, but they're also having to learn systems, drills, tendencies, the area, the staff and so much more.

Now imagine doing all of that while English isn't your native language either.

However, luckily for soon-to-be the newest Carolina Hurricanes defenseman, Alexander Nikishin, he already knows more than a few faces on the team.

The Canes trio of Russian — Andrei Svechnikov, Dmitry Orlov and Pyotr Kochetkov — are not only countrymen of Nikihsin, but have met him in person as well.

Over the summer, a few Russian NHL players organized a NHL vs. KHL charity match that pitted some of both league's biggest Russian stars against one another in Moscow.

All three of the Canes' Russian contingency were invited to play for Team NHL while Nikishin was a part of the KHL team.

"It was fun," Svechnikov told The Hockey News. "It was kind of the first time all the NHL guys playing against KHL guys. You don't really see that a lot. Got to hang out with the boys for a couple days and it was amazing. I never played in front of that many people because I left when I was 16. It was an amazing experience."

"It was good," Orlov said. "It's always nice to have those charity games, especially when everybody comes. Some big names where in that game and obviously you play with some guys that you know or see in the summertime. We had a nice dinner afterwards. It was fun. Hope it happens every year. I think it's important and it was a joy to play with some of those guys."

"It was good for Russian fans," Kochetkov said. "Russian superstars all play in the NHL, so for Russian guys, it's very good to see those players like Ovi. It was a good experience for me too. I liked it."

While there wasn't too much time to socialize during the game, the Hurricanes managed to find time after to get to know their future teammate a little more.

"That was my first time meeting him and I hung out with him after the game a couple times," Svechnikov said. "We went out for dinner. An amazing guy. He just wants to come here and play for us.

It will also be helpful that Nikishin was surrounded by a few players who have familiarity with the organization, such as Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tony DeAngelo, who both played for Carolina last season before winding up with SKA.

"I actually did see him in the summertime too," Orlov said on Nikishin. "They already had KHL camp started and the A-team was in Moscow and they have an Olympic base and I lived close by. So I saw Kuzy and we got dinner and Nikishin was there, so that's when I met him.

"He's a good player obviously and our organization is waiting for him. He's gonna be the most important D piece for this team in the future."

Nikishin has already admitted that his English isn't the best in an interview with RG.org, but he also said that he'll be able to rely on guys like Svechnikov, who has been reaching out to him a bunch in recent days, for help.

Comfort is so key for young players to truly blossom into their potential and it looks like the Canes are perfectly set up to help the fresh-faced Russian make the adjustment as smooth as possible.

What to know for Round 1 of the NBA playoffs: Bracket, schedule and more

What to know for Round 1 of the NBA playoffs: Bracket, schedule and more originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The 2025 NBA playoffs are ready to tip off.

The last two playoff berths were awarded on Friday night as the play-in tournament wrapped up.

The 10th-place Miami Heat first made play-in history with a wild overtime win against the eighth-place Atlanta Hawks. Tyler Herro and Co. clinched the Eastern Conference’s eighth and final playoff spot with the road victory, becoming the first 10th-place team to advance to the playoffs since the play-in was introduced in 2021. The Heat previously crushed the Bulls in Chicago in the 9-10 game.

But the Western Conference’s 10th-place team, the Dallas Mavericks, failed to match Miami’s feat. The eighth-place Memphis Grizzlies cruised past Dallas to grab the No. 8 playoff seed out West.

With the 16-team bracket locked in, here’s a look at the first-round matchups, schedule, and more to know:

When do the NBA playoffs start?

The playoffs begin Saturday, April 19.

How do the NBA playoffs work?

First-round matchups in each conference are No. 1 vs. No. 8, No. 2 vs. No. 7, No. 3 vs. No. 6, and No. 4 vs. No. 5. All postseason series are best of seven where the higher seed has home-court advantage in Games 1, 2, 5 and 7.

Do the NBA playoffs reseed teams?

The playoffs follow a bracket format and don’t reseed teams after the first round. That means, for instance, the winner of a 1-8 matchup will meet the winner of a 4-5 matchup in Round 2, regardless of the other first-round results.

What teams are in the NBA playoffs?

The six automatic playoff berths in the East were claimed by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons. The Orlando Magic and the Heat then joined the field via the play-in.

Out West, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves secured top-six spots before the Golden State Warriors and the Grizzlies advanced through the play-in.

What are the NBA playoff matchups?

Here’s a look at the bracket:

Eastern Conference

1. Cavaliers
8. Heat

4.Pacers
5. Bucks

3. Knicks
6. Pistons

2. Celtics
7. Magic

Western Conference

1. Thunder

4. Nuggets
5. Clippers

3. Lakers

Phillies at Cardinals Prediction: Odds, expert picks, starting pitchers, trends and stats for April 11

Its Friday, April 11 and the Phillies (8-4) are in St. Louis to open a weekend series against the Cardinals (5-7).

Aaron Nola is slated to take the mound for Philadelphia against Andre Pallante for St. Louis.

The Phils split a four-game series in Atlanta earlier this week. The Braves earned the split with a 4-2 win in eleven innings last night. Philadelphia hurlers had given up just one run and seven hits through ten innings before Joe Ross imploded in the eleventh offering up a walk-off home run to Marcell Ozuna.

St. Louis returns home after losing two of three in Pittsburgh. They lost 2-1 in 13 innings Wednesday to close out the series. Cardinals' pitching was elite...until it wasn't...allowing just three hits through eleven innings.

Lets dive into the matchup and find a sweat or two.

How Steph served as model for Florida guard Clayton's game

How Steph served as model for Florida guard Clayton's game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. isn’t shy about admitting Steph Curry’s impact on his playing style.

Fresh off a stellar performance in the NCAA Tournament, the 22-year-old gave his thoughts on being compared to the Warriors guard and Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard.

“It’s a little crazy to me just to hear that for me personally,” Clayton Jr. said Friday on ESPN’s “First Take.” “Those are two of the greats, and I’ve got a long way to go before I even get close to that. I’m just thankful for the recognition.”

Clayton Jr. then was asked if there was someone in particular that he modeled his game after.

“You obviously hear Steph Curry, Jamal Murray, multiple guys,” Clayton Jr. explained. “I just try to take bits and pieces of other players’ games.”

The young guard got hot at just the right time, helping Florida win its third NCAA championship in men’s basketball and winning Most Outstanding Player in the tournament. Between his elite shot-making ability and sound defense, Clayton Jr. now is expected to be a high pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.

Based on his recent heroics, Curry comparisons are expected to continue as the 22-year-old starts to make a name for himself in the NBA.

Griffin Canning is working backwards into becoming a fixture in the Mets' rotation

When Griffin Canning was traded from the Angels to the Braves this past Halloween, there was immediate conversation on Baseball Twitter about whether the Braves would "fix" Canning and turn him into the 2025 version of Reynaldo Lopez. With Canning off to a strong start to begin the 2025 season, it appears there was reason to be optimistic about the 29-year-old; only, he may have found his answers in New York instead of Atlanta.

Less than a month after trading for Canning, the Braves didn't tender him a contract, satisfied in simply saving money by trading Jorge Soler for Canning weeks earlier. That allowed the Mets to swoop in and sign Canning to a one-year, $4.25 million deal. It's a move that has worked wonders for both sides.

"I love it here," smiled Canning earlier this week. "I'm really enjoying my time. Everything is top of the line. I'm enjoying the change in scenery and just kind of experiencing something new."

Canning has spent every season of his professional career with the Los Angeles Angels after being a second-round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft. Canning was also born in Mission Viejo, California, and spent three seasons pitching in college for UCLA, so shipping off to New York may be the biggest change of scenery he's had in his baseball career.

You can't blame him for choosing the Mets either. Since the regime change in New York two seasons ago, the Mets have begun building a reputation as a pitcher-friendly organization that creates smart plans to maximize the skills of their pitchers. Just last season, the Mets coached Luis Severino to a 3.91 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 21.2% strikeout rate after a season with the Yankees where he seemed totally lost and registered a 6.65 ERA and 19% strikeout rate. They also changed Sean Manea's arm slot and pitch mix to help drive him to a 3.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 181.2 innings, the best season of his career.

Perhaps Canning can be next. After breaking out with a 3.65 ERA and 26.3% strikeout rate in the minors in 2018, and then producing a 3.99 ERA and 23.5% strikeout rate with the Angels in 2020, Canning's progress has halted. Injuries have certainly played a part, as he dealt with elbow irritation last year, a groin strain in 2023, and a lower back stress fracture in 2021 that sidelined him for the whole 2022 season.

The 29-year-old is healthy now and looking for something new. Part of that openness to something new has been changing his approach to pitch backwards, using breaking balls as the foundation of his pitch mix instead of fastballs.

"The conversation this spring was just kind of like, 'Hey, these are your best pitches. Why not lean on these?'" remembered Canning.

It's a simple concept, but one that has worked for many pitchers before and could be working for Canning as well. Heading into his start on Saturday against the Athletics, Canning has allowed three runs on eight hits in 9.2 innings over his first two starts while striking out 10 and walking five. It's not a perfect start, but his swinging strike rate is up, his CSW is the highest it's ever been, and his hard contact allowed is down.

It's too early in the season to call anything a breakout, but the added emphasis on using his best pitches more could have been the simple tweak that Canning needed to build on the promise he has tantalized with. Throughout his five-year MLB career, the best pitch for Canning has always been his slider. Since the 2021 season, he has never used it less than 24% of the time in a season, and it has never posted a swinging strike rate (SwStr%) below 16.7%. For comparison sake, the MLB average SwStr% for starting pitcher sliders is 15.3%, so Canning has always been able to miss bats with the slider, and it has graded out as his best pitch on most pitch grading models for years.

This year, the Mets have asked Canning to go to that slider even more. In his first two starts, he has used his slider 44.3% of the time. While that 20% usage jump from 2024 to this year may seem jarring, it feels almost natural to him. "It's kind of something I've done my whole life, pitch backwards," explained Canning. "I feel like it's more of just getting back to being myself and what my strengths are. So yeah, it's been a pretty easy transition."

Part of making that transition to use the slider more often has been recapturing the feel of the pitch, which seemed to get away from Canning in 2024. "For whatever reason, last year just didn't have as much depth on it," he admitted. "This year, it could be a product of just throwing it a little bit more, just having a little better feel for it, but, yeah, just a little bit more depth [on it]."

The depth Canning is referencing is the vertical break on his slider. In 2024, he had just three inches of vertical break, which was down from 5.1 inches in 2023. Instead of that being connected to a conscious pitch shape change, it seems as if Canning simply lost the feel for his slider. Yet, in 2025, the pitch is back to registering 6.6 inches of vertical break, which has helped improve its performance and grades on the pitch models.

While Canning himself is not obsessive over tracking pitch shape data, he acknowledges that the information can help in situations like his, where you're trying to identify why you may be struggling with a given pitch.

"Pitch shape data is a really good tool to kind of understand when a pitch is starting to get away from you and being able to reel it back in and not let it get too far off track," he said. "But at the end of the day, you just got to get outs, so I probably have more of a focus on that and executing pitches. At the same time, just kind of understanding, like, 'Hey, maybe I need to spend this week working on this pitch a little bit more.'"

That focus on executing his pitches is paying off for Canning early on because, in addition to the added depth on his slider, Canning is commanding it better than he has in years. Through two starts, the zone rate on Canning's slider is the highest it's ever been, as is his 77% strike rate on the pitch, which is 94th percentile in baseball. According to Pitcher List, Canning also has a 29% Early Called Strike rate on his slider, which means that nearly 30% of his sliders thrown in 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, and 1-1 counts are going for called strikes. That's much improved from his career numbers and well above the league average.

So Canning is leaning on his best pitch more, but also regaining comfort with it to help him execute the pitch better than he has in recent years. All of that is cause for optimism, and he's also working to reshape his arsenal around that pitch to set himself up for as much success as possible. Part of that involves bringing back a cutter, which he threw four times during the 2021 season but has not used otherwise.

"I've thrown a couple of cutters this year," confirmed Canning. "I'm just figuring out the right spot and the right guys to use it. It's just kind of to keep my slider and change up open as much as I can. Those are the pitches I'm going to lean on, so just being able to show guys something else where they have to respect it a little bit usually helps."

Even though the cutter itself is unlikely to be a big part of Canning's pitch mix this season, its inclusion could further help his best pitches.

Against right-handed batters, Canning's cutter will create an extra layer of deception to his slider. Of the minimal cutters he's thrown in 2025, the pitch has 6.1 inches of vertical break, which is similar to the slider, but has slightly less horizontal movement and comes in 3.5 mph faster. That means a hitter who is expecting the slider might be late on a cutter or take a longer swing to anticipate the break of the slider and get jammed. Meanwhile, Canning can locate the cutter up and in against a lefty, as he did against Yordan Alvarez, in order to have the hitter look inside, which will open up the outside part of the plate for his changeup, another of his bread-and-butter pitches.

Last year, the changeup was Canning's highest-graded pitch by PLV, which factors location into pitch grades, and was easily his best pitch against lefties. He threw the pitch over 32% of the time to lefties last year, registering a well-above-average 17.8% SwStr% and 66% strike rate overall while allowing a 36% Ideal Contact Rate (ICR), which is right in line with league averages. All of which is to say that Canning's changeup to lefties is often a strike, misses a lot of bats, and gives up a league-average amount of meaningful contact.

That pitch figures to be a weapon for Canning again in 2025, but relying on those two offerings more, plus adding in the changeup, means that some other pitches need to be used less.

"I probably won't throw [the curve] as much as I have in the past," Canning admits. Although that's not necessarily a bad thing. His curveball has graded out fairly average over the years and posted a below-average swinging strike rate, ICR, and CSW last year. Yet, Canning will still have the pitch in his back pocket if the game or season dictates that he mix it in from time to time.

"Teams are going to be constantly adjusting to you," he said. "It could just be a game-to-game thing. Once we make a few more starts, and your percentages are out there a little bit more, then teams are going to make adjustments, and so you've got to be ready to adjust too."

Another change to watch for this season has been the added vertical movement on Canning's four-seam fastball. Through two starts, Canning has had 17 inches of induced vertical break (or rise) on his four-seam fastball, compared to 15.6 inches last season. That has lowered his Vertical Approach Angle, which means his fastball is flatter, or resisting gravity more, which can make it harder to hit if it's used up in the zone. That makes it a good thing that Canning is using the pitch up in the zone nearly 69% of the time in 2025, after doing so just 54% of the time last year.

While getting the fastball up in the zone has been a conscious choice for Canning, the added vertical movement is not something that he spent much time focusing on this off-season. "Feels like something with the game intensity," he admitted. "When the season started, it just kind of clicks in, but, yeah, hopefully it's a trend that sticks around."

The Mets and fantasy managers hope it's a trend that sticks around, too. However, even by simply leaning into a focus on pitching backwards and creating a pitch mix built to support that attack plan, Canning could be emerging as an impactful member of this Mets rotation and another success story for a pitching development team that is beginning to make a habit out of turning careers around for veteran starters.

Alexander Nikishin Released From KHL Contract, To Sign Two-Year ELC With Carolina Hurricanes

Alexander Nikishin

Top defensive prospect Alexander Nikishin seems to be well on his way to joining the Carolina Hurricanes as he was just released from his KHL contract with SKA St. Petersburg.

His contract was set to expire on May 31, but the mutually agreed termination will allow him to make his way to North America immediately once a visa and contract with Carolina is squared away.

Nikishin, 23, is regarded as one of the best players outside of the NHL.

A rare combination of size (6-foot-4, 220lbs) and skill (consistent top scoring KHL defenseman), Nikishin plays in all situations and can burn you with his abilities or his physicality.

The former SKA captain is the KHL's all-time record holder for the most single season points by a Russian-born blueliner (56), a record which he set twice in back-to-back years.

The 6-foot-4 blueliner is also SKA's all-time leader in points by a defenseman, finishing his KHL career with 157 in 193 games.

The 2020 third-round pick (acquired from Buffalo in exchange for Jeff Skinner) looks to be a true diamond in the rough game-changer if he can carry over his game to the NHL level.

There's still the matter of an NHL deal, although it was reported by Russian reporter Artur Khairullin that it will be a two-year ELC that starts this season, as well as acquiring a visa for the Russian blueliner, but perhaps he'll be able to make it in time to play in a few regular season games.
