BYU jumps out early, cruises past Mississippi Valley State 87-43 to move to 5-0

Fousseyni Traore scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and BYU had five players with double-figure scoring in its 87-43 rout over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night. Kanon Catchings added 14 points for BYU (5-0), which shot 31 of 58 (53%) from the field and 11 of 32 (34%) from long range. Trevin Knell scored 12 points and Dallin Hall and Dawson Baker each had 10.

Mashburn scores 26, Temple downs UMass 87-80

Mykell Robinson added 16 points while going 3 of 9 and 10 of 10 from the free-throw line while he also had seven rebounds and five assists.

Kinziger and Illinois State knock off UAB 84-83

Johnny Kinziger scored 21 points including two free throws with five seconds left to lead Illinois State to an 84-83 win over UAB on Saturday. Kinziger shot 8 of 12 from the field, including 2 for 5 from 3-point range, and went 3 for 3 from the line for the Redbirds (4-2). Chase Walker scored 16 points and added eight rebounds.

St. Thomas-Minnesota takes down Portland State 91-65

Ben Nau had 18 points in St. Thomas-Minnesota's 91-65 win over Portland State on Saturday. Nau went 7 of 10 from the field (4 for 7 from 3-point range) for the Tommies (4-3). Kendall Blue scored 11 points while shooting 5 for 11, including 1 for 4 from beyond the arc and added five rebounds.

Northern Kentucky defeats Kentucky State 85-59

Randall Pettus II and Sam Vinson each scored 17 points as Northern Kentucky beat Kentucky State 85-59 on Saturday. Pettus also contributed five rebounds, six assists, and six steals for the Norse (1-4). Vinson shot 6 for 8 (3 for 4 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line and added four steals.
