England’s potential bus trip for Six Nations trophy is not only fork in road | Gerard Meagher

England will drive back to an empty stadium if France slip up, but their performance in Cardiff will define campaign

If all goes well for England, somewhere around half past nine on Saturday they will be preparing to clamber on to the team bus and head back to the stadium. They will have decamped to their hotel a couple of miles away in Cardiff Bay but if they have held up their end of the bargain against Wales and it appears that Scotland could do them a favour, England are due back at the Principality Stadium just after 10pm for a possible trophy presentation.

It will be a replica trophy in Cardiff – the real thing is in Paris given France remain hot favourites – but broadcasters and sponsors want their champagne moment, come what may, and as a result England must oblige, even in an empty stadium. It means that England could be left a touch red-faced if France leave it late to put Scotland to the sword. All dressed up at the Principality with nowhere to go.

Kings Silence Capitals 3-0: Kuemper Shuts the Door, Ovechkin Held Without a Shot

Credit © Ryan Sun-Imagn Images

The Los Angeles Kings were dominant on home ice, shutting out the Washington Capitals 3-0 in a statement victory at Crypto.com Arena. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper was flawless in his first game back against his former team since getting traded over the summer, shutting out all 21 shots faced to record his third shutout of the year.

The Kings' defense was equally sturdy, holding Alex Ovechkin without even a single shot on goal—an unusual sight against one of the NHL's best goal-scorers. The victory extended the Kings' winning streak to four games and was a significant confidence booster as they moved to second place in the Pacific division.

Los Angeles showed great defensive discipline and capitalized on their scoring chances to hand the Capitals their first loss in six games. The Kings' shutdown of Washington's potent offense was a testament to their growing cohesion and toughness in high-stakes games.

A High Stakes Test Passed with Flying Colors

This contest proved to be more than just another regular-season game — it was an actual litmus test of the Kings' playoff worthiness, and they answered emphatically. The Kings could stifle Washington's high-octane offense, posting one of their most complete performances of the season.

Their organized defense persisted in frustrating the Capitals, and their ability to stifle Ovechkin's chances was a testament to their improved ability to lock down top talent. With Kuemper standing tall in net and the likes of Kevin Fiala and Quinton Byfield stepping up when it mattered most, each contributed a goal.

Combined with eight shots on goal, the Kings collectively proved they can keep up with top-level teams when it matters.

The Kings' are now 16-1-1 whenever they score the first points at home, proving their dominance when they get off to good starts.

Coming into this game, the Kings were in the hunt for the second seed right behind the Oilers, but with the win today and the Oilers losing their last two games, LA is now on top. Since the trade deadline, the Kings have looked like the team they were back in January, winning four in a row and now 15 games above .500.

The Kings' well-balanced attack, good goaltending, and improved offensive dept proved worthy tonight against a formidable team. It was proven against the Capitals' deadly mixture of veteran savvy and youth that this season has been challenging to beat.

The Kings' specialty teams, which have been the catalyst for their recent success, proved dominant against Washington's power play, which has been among the top in the league. Also, with Darcy Kuemper facing his former team after the trade back in the Summer for Pierre-Luc Dubois, Kuemper didn't look fazed. He stayed locked in throughout the game, locking up the best offense

Ovechkin’s Goal Chase Stalled

The center of attention coming into this game was Alex Ovechkin—the future Hall of Famer with 886 goals. Under his belt, he only needed nine more goals to break Wayne Gretzky's record.

However, tonight's game was disappointing because he remains goals behind Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring mark. The Kings' defensive suffocation of Ovechkin's typical scoring avenues kept him from even taking a shot on goal.

This performance was surprisingly quiet for a player who scored from anywhere on the ice. With time working in his favor this season, Ovechkin will look to catch up quickly as he chases NHL history.

For the Kings, they didn't care about the record Ovechkin was chasing at all. Ovechkin's goal-scoring ability is a unique feat, and he has made a career out of scoring in big situations, but today, he was held without a shot on goal for only the second time this season.

The Kings' defense stayed alert, didn't force too many stupid penalties, and watched Ovechkin closely every time he stepped onto the ice.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and Matt Roy Return

The Kings traded away Dubois for Kuemper during the offseason, and it's been a success for both teams. Dubois has been an integral part of the Capitals scoring punch. Dubois has been a great addition to the nation's capital by recording 57 points (17 goals, 40 assists), providing size and quality to the Capitals forward position.

It would be interesting to see what both players would do against their former teams tonight. However, Roy struggled to get going, finishing with zero goals and shots on goal, while Dubois had a solid outing.

On the other hand, Dubois got six shots on goal, getting very close to scoring on a few occasions, but was short with Kuemper's ruling defense on the goal line. But the whole Capitals team struggled tonight. It wasn't just individual players; the team looked unprepared for what was coming at them.

Kuemper's First Game vs. Old Team

Another interesting subplot coming into this game was the return of goalie Darcy Kuemper, who was facing his old team for the first time since he was sent to Los Angeles in the offseason as part of a trade that sent Pierre-Luc Dubois off.

Kuemper's return against his former team looked like the Capitals may regret getting rid of him in the offseason. Kuemper's poise and sharp positioning were key in neutralizing Washington's attack. He saved all 21 shots the Capitals threw at him, especially during a crucial penalty kill in the second period that kept momentum in the Kings' favor. His performance provided a reminder of why he was such a key piece for the Capitals before the summer trade.

With a .915 save percentage and 2.29 goals-against average, Kuemper has been a solid player for the Kings all season, keeping them fighting for home ice for playoff time. Kuemper's familiarity with the Capitals' roster played a massive advantage in tonight's game.

Having spent much time in Washington, he looked like he knew their shooters and was prepared for what was coming at him. His first game against them didn't phase him; if anything, it motivated him all game. Given his track record, Kuemper was born for moments like this and was focused when it mattered most: helping the Kings beat one of the league's top teams.

A Team to Be Feared

With this resounding win against one of the league's best teams, the Kings have made it clear that they are a legitimate playoff contender. Keeping Ovechkin in check, stifling Washington's offense, and showing great poise in big moments also mark the Kings as a possible dangerous postseason contender.

Their defensive depth, defensive skills, and goaltending have established them as a team that can abuse top-level teams, and they should take heart from this statement victory.

After the win, Kuemper had one thing to say after their shutout win against the Capitals.

"We have our eye on trying to get home ice in the playoffs," said the should-be Vezina finalist.

Dallas governor Patrick Dumont on Doncic trade: 'This was a decision about the future'

What's the first rule of climbing out of a deep hole? Stop digging.

Dallas Mavericks ownership and front office are in a hole with their fan base after trading away Luka Doncic and assembling a team that went from the NBA Finals a season ago to likely missing the playoffs entirely this year (to be fair, injuries are a part of that). The Mavericks need to stop digging, yet here is what team governor Patrick Dumont said during a speaking engagement put on by a Dallas-area real estate organization this week:

"This was a decision about the future. If you look at our roster today and who we have, we feel like we've positioned ourselves to be incredibly competitive against the best teams in the NBA. And if you're a fan of basketball -- I'll just throw that out there -- you have Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, Anthony Davis and either Daniel Gafford or Dereck Lively as your starting five. That's going to put fear into a lot of teams in the league, if we can get going...

"The objective was, 'How do we create a roster for the future that allows us to be the most competitive team?'...

"It's really just about improving the team for the future."

You can feel the collective eye rolls from Mavericks fans. Tell us again how trading away a 25-year-old top-five player in the world (when healthy) for a 32-year-old great player but with an injury history is a good decision about the future. Stop digging.

Klay Thompson, for his part, is buying into the message.

Former Mavs owner Mark Cuban this week echoed what sources from every corner of the league have been saying since the trade: Even if somehow you talk yourself into the need to trade Doncic, "Just get a better deal." As great as Anthony Davis can be, as much as Max Christie is thriving, getting just one first-round pick in this trade is mind-boggling, let alone there should have been more win-now talent. The Knicks gave up five first-round picks to get Mikal Bridges last offseason. Cuban rightfully said that if Dallas had gotten four first-round picks with Davis and Christie, the conversation would be different (fans would have still questioned the wisdom of making the trade, but at least that's close to a fair return). It should be noted the Lakers only had two firsts to trade, so a third and maybe fourth team would have had to come in with much bigger roles than Utah had in the existing deal.

The fastest way out of the hole for the Mavericks is to start winning games (and not jack up ticket prices). However, with the unfortunate ACL injury to Kyrie Irving that will sideline him until at least the middle of next season, it will be a while before the level of winning fans saw with Doncic returns. Until then, stop digging.

According to MoneyPuck’s model, the Red Wings have a 9.3 percent chance of reaching the postseason.

The only other Eastern Conference teams with a lower chance of making the playoffs are the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Buffalo Sabres. Of those teams, only the Sabres have no chance of making it.

The Red Wings currently have 68 points, two points back of the final Wild Card team, the Columbus Blue Jackets. The New York Rangers also have 70 points but have played 66 games to the Red Wings' (and Blue Jackets') 65.

There is always a chance because so much of making the playoffs is outside of the players’ control. They can’t influence how other games play out.

What they can control is their individual performances. The Red Wings have 17 games remaining on the schedule, which is plenty of time to close the gap and pull ahead of other teams in the running.

Previewing The Canucks’ Weekend Back-To-Back

Nov 16, 2024; Vancouver, British Columbia, CAN; Vancouver Canucks defenseman Noah Juulsen (47) and forward Jake DeBrusk (74) and forward Elias Pettersson (40) and forward Kiefer Sherwood (44) celebrate a goal scored by defenseman Erik Brannstrom (26) against the Chicago Blackhawks during the third period at Rogers Arena. Mandatory Credit: Bob Frid-Imagn Images

On Wednesday night, the Vancouver Canucks did something they previously hadn’t done at all this season — they won a game after trailing two periods. Taking the 4–3 shootout win against the Calgary Flames brings them up to 71 points on the season with 17 games remaining. Two of those games occur this weekend at Rogers Arena, where the Canucks will play the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday and Utah Hockey Club on Sunday. While Chicago is pretty much a shoe-in for a top-three draft pick this year, Utah is sneakily only two points back of Vancouver. Let’s take a look at what this weekend could have in store for the Canucks.

Hughes Returns But Canucks Lose Myers For Game Against The Flames

Vancouver’s first matchup this weekend comes against Chicago, who are currently sporting a 20–37–9 season record that puts them second-last in the Western Conference with 49 points. Only the San Jose Sharks have a lower point total than them. Despite their abysmal record, Vancouver can’t approach this game with the expectation of automatically gaining two points.

Chicago’s most dangerous factor coming into this game is the newly-acquired Spencer Knight, who is sporting a 2.24 GAA and .928 SV% in his three games with the Blackhawks so far. Knight has led the Blackhawks to a win against Utah and the Los Angeles Kings. In his two losses against the Colorado Avalanche and Sharks with Chicago, he only let in two goals and three goals respectively, still posting save percentages of .900% and .875%. Prior to being traded, he registered two shutouts and a 2.40 GAA with the Florida Panthers

Another thing Vancouver should also be aware of is Chicago’s strong special teams. Their power play currently sits at fifth in the NHL with an effectiveness rate of 24.8%. Notably, they have scored five power play goals in their last 10 games. Their penalty kill has been steady as well, posting a killing percentage of 80.9% — 11th in the league.

Vancouver and Chicago are the bottom-two shot producers in the NHL. They’re both also towards the bottom of the standings in goals-for. While it’s likely that this game could be a low-scoring affair, since the start of March, Vancouver has seen a significant increase in shots-for, while Chicago has not. In this case, the key to securing two points against the Blackhawks will be to play the same way they did at the end of their match against the Flames. They’ll need to control play and keep applying pressure (or should I say, meet pressure with pressure?).

Utah has been a surprise team for many this season. A rebranded version of the Arizona Coyotes, Utah wasn’t expected to perform too well given the circumstances. However, they’ve put on quite the show for their new fanbase and have climbed up to a 29–25–11 record. This puts them at 69 points with 17 games left in their season, only a hair away from reaching Vancouver’s current position. Utah has had Vancouver’s number in both of their season matchups so far, taking both of their victories by only one goal.

As it stands, Utah has two players at the 50-point mark and above, and five who have more than 40 points. Vancouver’s lone player with more than 50 points is Quinn Hughes, who has 61 in 51 games played. Next in line are Conor Garland and Elias Pettersson with 39. For reference, Clayton Keller (74), Nick Schmaltz (50), Dylan Guenther (48), Logan Cooley (47), and MIkhail Sergachev (43) all have more points than Vancouver’s top-scoring forwards. While Utah is not a particularly high-scoring team compared to others in the NHL, their goals-for count of 184 is still higher than Vancouver’s 176.

One surprising stat about Utah is their corsi-for percentage, which tracks even-strength shot attempts by a team. They are currently ninth in the NHL in this stat with 51.68%, putting them higher than the Vegas Golden Knights, Washington Capitals, and Winnipeg Jets. Vancouver is 22nd in the league with 49.03%.

As is the case with all games at this time of year, this weekend’s back-to-back is a big one for Vancouver. They have the opportunity to escape with all four points, taking two away from a team currently chasing them in the standings. Puck drop for Saturday is at 7:00 pm PT, while Sunday’s game starts at 5:00 pm PT.

A big day for Phillies' top prospects beyond just their Spring Breakout win

A big day for Phillies' top prospects beyond just their Spring Breakout win originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Phillies’ top minor-leaguers won their Spring Breakout game against the Pirates on a day that began with their No. 1 prospect reaching his next checkpoint.

Andrew Painter threw his first live batting practice session of the spring on Friday morning, facing Alec Bohm, Brandon Marsh and Bryson Stott.

“Small sample size today but biggest takeaway was how the changeup’s pretty good,” Painter said. “It’s something I’ve been working on. I threw a couple to Marsh and he said it looked pretty good. Felt like I could land most things for a strike.”

To this point in camp, Painter had been throwing side sessions or bullpen sessions at less than 100% intensity. He wasn’t going all-out during Friday’s live BP, either.

“Still easing in, first one,” he said. “Two years ago, the first one felt really good and that led into some problems. I’ll take it easy here, a few more, just kinda build off every one.”

Two years ago, Painter entered camp as the perceived frontrunner in the Phillies’ No. 5 starter’s battle. He was being built up to begin the season because even at 19, the front office felt he had a body and skillset to pitch in the major leagues. An early highlight that spring was Kyle Schwarber homering off Painter during live BP a few days into full-squad workouts and playfully letting him hear about it.

Painter started a game against the Twins early that spring and showcased an upper-90s fastball but was quickly shelved by elbow soreness that eventually required Tommy John surgery. Painter missed all of 2024 recovering but felt good enough toward the end of the year to participate in the Arizona Fall League, where he excelled. The Phillies’ plan with him in 2025 is to bring him back up to speed slowly, saving the bulk of his innings for the second half when those innings could come in the majors.

Painter will throw a side session on Tuesday and will have a couple more live BPs before the Phillies break camp. When the season begins, he’ll stay back in Florida to keep working before eventually pitching in minor-league games.

Phils win Spring Breakout

The Phillies’ top prospects beat the Pirates’ top prospects, 5-3, at BayCare Ballpark. The Phils scored twice in the third inning and took the lead for good on a solo home run in the seventh by second baseman Carson DeMartini.

DeMartini was involved in a scare earlier in the afternoon when he was hit by a pitch on the wrist from left-hander Anthony Solometo. DeMartini stayed in the game and scored in the inning as infielders Devin Saltiban and Aroon Escobar hit back-to-back doubles at the bottom of the order off of Solometo, a Bishop Eustace product from Voorhees, NJ. The Phils’ bats were glad to see Bubba Chandler, a Pirates top prospect, exit the game after pumping consistent 99 mph fastballs the first two innings.

Phillies director of player development Luke Murton was in the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast booth with Tom McCarthy and Cole Hamels as the bottom of the third unfolded and expressed how intrigued the Phillies are by Saltiban’s power and the development Escobar is showing. Both are 20 years old.

The top of the order included players who have already appeared in big-league spring training games for the Phillies: Justin Crawford, Aidan Miller, Gabriel Rincones Jr., Otto Kemp. Hitting second was left fielder Dante Nori, the Phillies’ first-round pick last summer.

Crawford showed his speed in that two-run third by legging out a chopper to a drawn-in third baseman. He later tripled. Miller and Nori went hitless.

Moises Chace, acquired from Baltimore last summer for Gregory Soto, started and struck out two in a scoreless first inning. Conditioning and velo have been focal points for him in camp. His fastball was 91-92 mph on Friday compared to the mid-high-90s last season.

Jean Cabrera, who like Chace is on the Phillies’ 40-man roster, followed with two scoreless innings, working around two hit batsmen.

Suns' owner Ishbia says Devin Booker trade will 'Never happen,' Booker says he doesn't want one

This summer, Kevin Durant will be the big domino to fall — all signs point to Durant and the Suns parting ways in a trade. Don't take my or any other reporter's word for it, listen to what Suns owner Mat Ishbia — whose "all-in" aggressive style led to the trades to acquire Durant and Bradley Beal — told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon:

According to Ishbia, a "pivot and reload" around Booker could be the direction the franchise chooses this summer.

Plenty of front office people around the league think the Suns should go one more step: Trade Devin Booker. The Rockets are interested and control many of the future picks that Phoenix traded away (the Suns don't fully control their own first-round pick until 2032). This situation could be similar to Brooklyn, where the team trades to regain control of its own picks, allowing for a true bottom-up rebuild.

That is not happening. Ishbia made that crystal clear.

"Never happen," Ishbia said, interrupting the question. "It's silly. So here's what I'll tell you: I have Devin Booker in the prime. In order to win an NBA championship, you got to have a superstar. You got to have a great player."

What's more, Booker doesn't want it. Booker has long idolized Kobe Bryant, one of the few players in recent decades to spend his entire career with one team, and Booker wants to follow in those footsteps.

"I take pride in the community in Phoenix, the people that have supported me since I was 18 when things were ugly. And the people that are with us, we just fell short of accomplishing what we want. So I want to do it, and I want to do it here. That's the responsibility of being a franchise player, and I wear that with honor. So it might not look the most pretty right now, but we got to get it done and I'm going to do it."

There should be no doubt Booker means every word of this. However, the list of superstar players who have said they never wanted to leave a city and then asked for a trade a few years later is longer than we have room for on the Internet. The real question is how Booker feels in a couple of years (as his next contract starts to come up) if the team isn't contending and he sees no path forward.

Ishbia doesn't plan to find out because he wants a quick pivot to move this team back into contention. Fast. How the Suns do that while also reaching the goal of getting under the second tax apron next season will be a Herculean task for GM James Jones.

It's going to be a wild summer in Phoenix. Just don't expect a "trade Booker" wild summer. He's staying.

Fantasy Basketball Week 20 Waiver Wire: It's Stephon Castle time in San Antonio

For managers competing in Yahoo! public leagues or under Yahoo! default settings, Week 20 marks the beginning of the fantasy playoffs. Others may be in leagues where the postseason is already in full swing, but the need to find low-rostered contributors is the same. With more players either being ruled out for the rest of the season or held out for "injury management" reasons, there are opportunities for players who weren't on the fantasy radar to begin the season to shine and provide tangible value. And there may be a "league-winner" sitting on some waiver wires as you read this column. Let's look at some of the top pickups for Week 20 in Yahoo! leagues.

Priority Adds

1. Stephon Castle

2. Naji Marshall

3. Tari Eason

4. Quentin Grimes

5. Miles McBride

6. Kyshawn George

7. Caris LeVert

8. Tre Jones

9. Adem Bona

10. Justin Champagnie

SG/SF Quentin Grimes (55%), Philadelphia 76ers

While no decision has been made regarding Paul George's availability for the rest of the season, the fact that he's meeting with doctors regarding his groin and knee injuries may be a sign that he could be shut down. And with Philadelphia trending toward missing the postseason, there's no need for him to be out there. Grimes has been an offensive focal point, and that should remain the case for the foreseeable future. The only question is what happens if he plays so well that the 76ers risk not improving their odds of holding onto their first-round pick. It is top-6 protected; Oklahoma City receives the pick otherwise.

SG/SF/PF Naji Marshall (54%), Dallas Mavericks

While his rostered percentage has surpassed 50 percent, Marshall may still be undervalued in standard leagues. Over the past week, he has averaged 25.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 three-pointers per game, shooting 50 percent from the field and 86.4 percent from the foul line. With the Mavericks still without multiple key players, Marshall has shouldered more of the offensive workload, and fantasy managers have benefitted. While Dallas' Week 20 schedule is terrible, as they only play two games, withholding a transaction to add Marshall before Wednesday's game against the Pacers would be wise.

SF/PF Tari Eason (48%), Houston Rockets

The Rockets have a good schedule for Week 20, playing four games without a back-to-back. That should ensure Eason's availability for all four, which would be excellent news for fantasy managers. Over the past two weeks, he has accounted for 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.7 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers per game. And with Amen Thompson (ankle) out, Eason has remained in the Rockets' starting lineup, raising his fantasy ceiling.

PG/SG Stephon Castle (48%), San Antonio Spurs

It was reported that De'Aaron Fox will undergo season-ending finger surgery on Tuesday, so the Spurs will have a spot to fill in their starting lineup. Castle, who started alongside Chris Paul from early January until Fox was acquired from the Kings, should resume those responsiblities. And over the past two weeks, Castle has averaged 20.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.7 three-pointers per game. While the category league value hasn't been great during this stretch, the rookie guard has been a better option for points leagues. And Fox's injury could allow Castle to strengthen his Rookie of the Year case.

SG/SF Caris LeVert (34%), Atlanta Hawks

LeVert continues to provide reliable fantasy value off the bench, as he has been a fourth-round player in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. He has averaged 19.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.7 blocks and 2.7 three-pointers per game, shooting 55.3 percent from the field and 80 percent from the foul line. With Zaccharie Risacher and Mouhamed Gueye being starters, reserves like LeVert and Georges Niang have added importance for the Hawks as they close in on a play-in spot.

SG/SF Kyshawn George (28%), Washington Wizards

The Wizards have ruled out Bilal Coulibaly, who suffered a hamstring injury during the team's loss to the Raptors on March 10. While that doesn't change George's place in the rotation, as he was already starting, he becomes a more important player on both ends of the floor. The shooting (38.9 percent over the past two weeks) remains an issue, but the defensive production (5.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks per game) makes it a little easier for category leagues to absorb that blow. What also helps is the Wizards playing four games during Week 20.

PG/SG Miles McBride (27%), New York Knicks

The Knicks have a four-game Week 20, and with Jalen Brunson still recovering from his sprained ankle, McBride has added value. Deuce has averaged 13.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.3 steals, 0.7 blocks and 3.0 three-pointers in three starts. The percentages (36.1 from the field and 57.1 from the foul line) haven't been good, but McBride has recorded solid assists, steals and three-point numbers as Brunson's replacement in the lineup. Also, three of New York's four Week 20 games (San Antonio, Charlotte and Washington) are against teams unlikely to reach the postseason.

PG Tre Jones (18%), Chicago Bulls

With Lonzo Ball sidelined by a sprained wrist and Josh Giddey dealing with a sprained ankle, Jones has started Chicago's last five games. During this stretch, he has averaged 14.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks and 0.8 three-pointers, shooting 50 percent from the field and 76.9 from the foul line. The Bulls have won four straight and appear headed for the play-in tournament, holding a five-game lead on Toronto for the final spot.

SG/SF Ziaire Williams (17%), Brooklyn Nets

The Nets have lost nine of their last 10 games, appearing to be headed for the draft lottery after being more competitive than anticipated earlier this season. Williams has been a fixture in the starting lineup since late January, with Brooklyn's March 6 loss to the Warriors being the lone exception. While the fantasy value hasn't been great recently, with Ziaire only being a top 150 player in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks, he would benefit if the Nets were to shut down more established perimeter players like Cam Thomas, Cameron Johnson and D'Angelo Russell. The Nets only play three games during Week 20, but playing starters' minutes makes Williams worth a look in deep leagues.

C Adem Bona (12%), Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid is done for the season, while Guerschon Yabusele and Andre Drummond have dealt with injuries recently. And with the team likely wanting to do all it can to improve its draft lottery odds, there's no reason for Bona not to play more minutes as the regular season approaches its conclusion. Over the past week, the rookie has averaged 13.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.7 blocks per game, shooting 68 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the foul line. And with the 76ers playing four games during weeks 20 and 21, Bona is a player worth adding for those needing rebounds and defensive stats.

SG/SF Justin Champagnie (5%), Washington Wizards

As mentioned in the George section, the Wizards will be without Bilal Coulibaly for the rest of the season. Champagnie has started Washington's last two games, most recently accounting for 17 points, nine rebounds, one assist, three steals and three three-pointers in 33 minutes in a March 13 win over the Pistons. He should not be at risk of a late-season shutdown, especially with Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart being more likely candidates.
