Jamiya Neal had 21 points and nine rebounds to lead No. 21 Creighton past Notre Dame 80-76 on Saturday in the seventh-place game of the Players Era Festival. Notre Dame cut the lead to three with 24 seconds left, but Creighton (5-3) closed the game 6 of 6 from the free-throw line to seize the win and snap a three-game losing skid. Steven Ashworth had 15 points and six assists for Creighton.

Bashir scores 28 in Monmouth’s 63-51 win against Seton Hall

Abdi Bashir Jr. had 28 points in Monmouth's 63-51 win over Seton Hall on Saturday. Bashir shot 11 for 19, including 6 for 9 from beyond the arc for the Hawks (1-8). Jack Collins scored 13 points while shooting 4 for 12 (3 for 11 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line and added five rebounds.

Sam Houston secures 82-78 victory over Colgate

Lamar Wilkerson scored 17 points as Sam Houston beat Colgate 82-78 on Saturday. Wilkerson shot 7 for 14, including 3 for 9 from beyond the arc for the Bearkats (4-4). Dorian Finister added 15 points while shooting 4 of 10 from the field and 6 for 6 from the line while he also had eight rebounds.

Judd Trump into UK Championship final with easy win over Kyren Wilson

Judd Trump reeled off six frames in succession to beat Kyren Wilson 6-2 and secure his place in the final of the UK Championship for the first time since 2020. The world No 1 capitalised on mistakes from his misfiring opponent to exact some measure of revenge for defeats in finals in Xian and Belfast this season.

While Trump produced nothing like the form he showed when he swept aside Zhang Anda in the last eight, it proved more than enough to line him up for another shot at the prestigious trophy he lifted in 2011.

Carreras runs the show as Gloucester end Northampton’s unbeaten home run

We were denied the consummation of another comeback from the dead, but we were treated to the usual entertainment all the same. Northampton’s struggles continue, here surrendering a 17-match unbeaten run at home. Gloucester, though, after an exhilarating opening 40 minutes move ever closer to the playoff zone with a win high on charisma and grit.

Rory Hutchinson missed a late penalty for the Saints, which would have earned them a bonus point, but the champions could not recover from the boundless energy with which Gloucester ran them ragged in the first half. Both sides chucked the ball around with abandon, often to their own players, but quite often to the opposition. It just added to the breathlessness.
