Former Test cricketer and Australian Hall of Fame hero Ian Redpath dies age 83

Australian cricket is mourning the loss of one its last old-school stonewall openers, with former Test batsman Ian Redpath dying at 83.

A member of Australian cricket’s hall of fame, Redpath was a fixture of Australia’s side in the 1960s and 1970s. The Victorian played 66 Tests and scored eight centuries between 1964 and 1976, compiling 4734 runs at an average of 43.45.

Cal Poly hits 8 3s in second half, beats Stanford 97-90 for its first win over Cardinal since 1977

Owen Koonce scored 30 points, Isaac Jessup scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half and Cal Poly rallied late to beat Stanford 97-90 on Saturday night. Jessup hit consecutive 3-pointers during a 10-2 surge to give Cal Poly its first lead since the opening minutes of the game, 79-78, with 4:58 remaining. Stanford regained the advantage on the next possession and then later tied it 84-all on Maxime Raynaud's layup with 1:50 left.

Fallah’s 25 help Oregon State down UC Davis 90-57

Parsa Fallah scored 25 points as Oregon State beat UC Davis 90-57 on Saturday. Fallah shot 11 of 14 from the field and 3 of 3 from the free-throw line for the Beavers (5-2). Michael Rataj scored 21 points while shooting 6 for 10 (3 for 4 from 3-point range) and 6 of 6 from the free-throw line and added 11 rebounds.

Nate Bittle’s putback with 4.4 seconds left gives Oregon 83-81 win over No. 9 Alabama

Nate Bittle scored the winning shot on a putback dunk with 4.4 seconds left to lead undefeated Oregon to an 83-81 win over No. 9 Alabama Saturday night in the championship game of the Players Era Festival. Keeshawn Barthelemy scored 22 points off the bench to lead the Ducks (8-0), and Bittle had 19 on the night. Alabama's Aden Holloway made a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 81-78 with 26 seconds left.

Lou Carnesecca, Hall of Fame coach who led St. John’s for 24 seasons, dies at 99

In the long and storied history of New York City basketball, nobody wore it quite like Lou Carnesecca. The excitable St. John’s coach whose outlandish sweaters became an emblem of his team’s rousing Final Four run in 1985, died at 99 on Saturday, just a few weeks shy of his 100th birthday. The university said it was notified by a family member that Carnesecca died in a hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
