Valencia confirm Carlos Corberán’s arrival as head coach from West Brom

  • Corberán says decision was ‘the hardest of my life’
  • Spaniard played for Valencia’s youth and B teams

Valencia have confirmed the appointment of Carlos Corberán as their head coach on a contract to 2027 after paying his release clause of about £3m to West Bromwich Albion. The Spanish club made an approach on Tuesday after sacking Rubén Baraja.

West Brom said Corberán was departing “with the club’s gratitude and best wishes” after just over two years in charge and that Chris Brunt, Damià Abella and Boaz Myhill would oversee the first team while a replacement is sought.

Charlotte outlasts Murray State 94-90 in 2OT at Diamond Head Classic

Nik Graves scored a career-high 31, Giancarlo Rosado added a career-best 23 points off the bench and Charlotte outlasted Murray State 94-90 in double overtime in the consolation bracket of the Diamond Head Classic on Monday night. Graves was 12 for 12 at the free-throw line for the 49ers (7-5), who made 34 of 36 on the night. Robert Braswell IV scored 11.

Brice Williams matched his career high with 32 points and Juwon Gary scored a season-high 21 to lead Nebraska to a 69-55 victory over Hawaii on Monday night, sending the Cornhuskers to the title game of the Diamond Head Classic. Nebraska (9-2) will play Oregon State on Christmas Day for the championship of the eight-team tournament. Hawaii (7-4) will play Oakland for third place, also on Wednesday.
