Duke’s defense pulls through

Another slog turned into another blowout victory for Duke. The Blue Devils, playing their first game in a week, overcame some tough stretches on offense with a stout defensive performance to trounce George Mason 68-47 Tuesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The teams entered as two of the top six defensive units in the country by effective field goal percentage, and it was easy to see why.

Strong, Bueckers and Shade’s hot shooting lift No. 4 UConn to 101-68 win over Iowa State

Sarah Strong scored a career-high 29 points and Paige Bueckers added 27 to lift No. 4 UConn to a 101-68 victory over Iowa State on Tuesday night in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase. Ashlynn Shade had a career-best 27 points, hitting seven 3-pointers. UConn led 36-10 after the first 10 minutes, and the Cyclones (9-4) never were able to get within 14 the rest of the game.

No. 2 Auburn top Georgia State 100-59 for 3rd straight win as center Johni Broome hurts shoulder

Chaney Johnson had a career-high 26 points with eight rebounds and four assists as No. 2 Auburn beat Georgia State 100-59 on Tuesday night after losing center Johni Broome to a shoulder injury. Broome, who entered the contest averaging 19.7 points and a Division I-leading 12.7 rebounds, left the game and went to the locker room with an arm injury just 2:17 into the game. Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said after the game that Broome's right shoulder “kind of slipped out and came back.”
