Jamir Watkins scored 17 of his 30 points in the second-half Saturday night and Florida State never trailed as the Seminoles beat Rice 73-65 in the Battleground 2k24 at the Toyota Center. Watkins made 7 of 14 from the field, 2 of 4 from 3-point range and 14 of 22 from the free-throw line. Malique Ewin scored 11 points (all in the second half) and finished with seven rebounds for Florida State (2-2).

Justin Allgaier wins 1st NASCAR Xfinity title, capping comeback by passing Hill and Custer late

Justin Allgaier won his first NASCAR Xfinity season championship Saturday night at Phoenix Raceway, making a stunning comeback after falling a lap down midway through the race. Allgaier bounced back from an early flat tire and back-to-back penalties, working his way back through the field before passing Austin Hill and Cole Custer on an overtime restart with two laps remaining. The No. 7 Chevrolet took four tires during his pit stop before overtime, including two new ones on his right side, before shooting past Hill and Custer on the restart.

Santos, Cheeks rally Dayton to a 71-66 win over Northwestern

Nate Santos and Robert Morris transfer Enoch Cheeks each scored 16 points and Dayton took control of the game's tempo in the second half to come from eight points down to beat Northwestern 71-66 on Saturday night. Dayton snapped a three-game losing string to the Wildcats and evened the all-time series at 3-3. Dayton got within a point at 51-50 after Javon Bennett knocked down a 3-pointer and Malachi Smith converted at the basket with 8:13 left.

Alex Karaban has 17 points as No. 3 UConn overcomes sluggish start to roll past New Hampshire 92-53

Alex Karaban had 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots to help No. 3 UConn beat New Hampshire 92-53 on Saturday night. Karaban scored four of the final six points of the first half as UConn (2-0) took a 35-24 advantage into the break. The only returning starter for the two-time defending national champions had a pair of early 3-pointers in the second half to give UConn some breathing room against the Wildcats.

Jayden Nunn scores 16, Norchad Omier has double-double as No. 8 Baylor beats No. 16 Arkansas 72-67

Jayden Nunn had 16 points while Norchad Omier had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as eighth-ranked Baylor bounced back from a season-opening blowout loss and held on to beat No. 16 Arkansas 72-67 on Saturday night. There were three ties in their second game, and Nunn hit go-ahead baskets each time. Arkansas (1-1) was within 70-67 when freshman Boogie Fland, who finished with 17 points and seven assists, hit a long 3-pointer with 24 seconds left.
