Oklahoma State holds off Southern Illinois 85-78 in the Cowboys’ 3,000th men’s basketball game

Abou Ousmane and Brandon Newman both scored 18 points, combining to shoot 15 for 19, and Oklahoma State held off Southern Illinois 85-78 on Thursday night in the Cowboys' 3,000th men's basketball game. Davonte Davis gave Oklahoma State an 80-62 lead with 4:23 but the Cowboys did not make another field goal the rest of the way as Southern Illinois got as close as four points with 24 seconds left. Arturo Dean made two free throws with 19 seconds left for a six-point lead and Southern Illinois turned it over for the 18th time at the other end.

Ireland’s 15 includes last second winner to help Nicholls State defeat Northern Kentucky 61-59

Byron Ireland had 15 points, including the game winner with less than a second to play, in Nicholls State's 61-59 victory over Northern Kentucky on Thursday night. Ike Cornish rebounded a Norse miss with about 8.5 seconds to go and fed the ball to Ireland in the backcourt. Ireland shot 5 of 18 from the field, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 6 from the line for the Colonels (2-2).

Johnson scores 18, UMBC defeats Coppin State 92-67

Bryce Johnson had 18 points in UMBC's 92-67 win against Coppin State on Thursday night. Johnson shot 5 for 11 (3 for 5 from 3-point range) and 5 of 11 from the free-throw line for the Retrievers (3-1). Marcus Banks added 16 points while going 6 of 10 (4 for 5 from 3-point range) and also had three steals.

Missouri takes school-record 72-point win over Mississippi Valley State

Marques Warrick scored 11 of his 16 points in the first half when Missouri took off to a huge lead on its way to a 111-39 win over Mississippi Valley State on Thursday night — the 72-point margin matching the largest in Tigers history. It was Missouri's largest margin of victory since defeating Chicago State 117-45 in 1995. The Tigers also beat MacMurray 106-34 in 1976.
