Young scores 27 points, Burnham sparks large run in 2nd half to help Virginia Tech beat Miami 81-68

Jaydon Young scored 27 points, Ben Burnham added 14 and the pair combined for six 3-pointers in the second half to help Virginia Tech beat Miami 81-68 on Saturday night. The score was tied at 38 at the break and Miami opened the second half on a 10-4 surge for a 48-42 advantage with 15:14 remaining. Burnham answered with consecutive 3-pointers and ended a 33-11 run with another 3 to give Virginia Tech a 75-59 lead with about five minutes left.

Johnson’s 22 help Southern beat Grambling 71-64

Cam Amboree scored 13 points, shooting 6 for 11, including 1 for 3 from beyond the arc. Michael Jacobs had 12 points and shot 4 of 11 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free-throw line. The Tigers (9-18, 6-8) were led by Chilaydrien Newton, who posted 13 points.

Rataj puts up 29 as Oregon State beats San Diego 83-73

Michael Rataj scored 29 points as Oregon State beat San Diego 83-73 on Saturday night. Rataj added 10 rebounds for the Beavers (20-9, 10-6 West Coast Conference). Josiah Lake added 13 points while shooting 2 of 4 from the field and 8 for 8 from the line while they also had eight rebounds.

Alabama State secures 60-59 victory over Florida A&M

Amarr Knox scored 17 points and TJ Madlock's basket with 12 seconds left provided the winning points as Alabama State beat Florida A&M 60-59 on Saturday night. Knox added six rebounds and four steals for the Hornets (13-14, 9-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference). CJ Hines scored nine points, shooting 3 for 16, including 1 for 7 from beyond the arc.

Terry and Eastern Michigan knock off Northern Illinois 79-76

Jalen Terry scored the game-winning 3-pointer with one second left and racked up 28 total points to lead Eastern Michigan past Northern Illinois 79-76 on Saturday. Terry added six rebounds for the Eagles (14-13, 7-7 Mid-American Conference). Da'Sean Nelson added 19 points while shooting 4 of 13 from the field and 11 for 15 from the line to go with five rebounds and three blocks.

Dmitry Bivol takes Artur Beterbiev’s undisputed crown in Riyadh classic

Dmitry Bivol became the undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world after he outpointed Artur Beterbiev in another absorbing and magnificent contest of great technical skill and profound courage. Bivol, who narrowly lost a majority decision to the 40-year-old former champion just over four months ago, won the rematch and the sweetest redemption in the early hours of Sunday morning in Riyadh.

The scores were exactly the same as they had been in October – with one judge ruling it a 114-114 draw and the two other officials reaching verdicts of 116-112 and 115-113 – but the key difference was that the winning margins were announced in favour of the deserving Bivol.
