Pitt drops first game of the season in 81-75 defeat to No. 19 Wisconsin

The story: Pitt led Wisconsin by seven points at halftime in the championship game from The Greenbrier Tip-Off, but a strong second half propelled the Badgers to a 81-75 victory to hand the Panthers their first loss of the season. Pitt looked sharp early in this game on both sides of the ball, but Wisconsin started to find some life in the early stages of the first half, and rode that momentum throughout the game. The Panthers faced significant foul trouble for much of the game, and also lost second leading scorer Damian Dunn less than three minutes into the game.

Gabriel Pec, Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljic each scored two goals Sunday to help the LA Galaxy beat Minnesota United to advance to the Western Conference finals.

The Galaxy, the No 2 seed in the Western Conference, will play host to the fourth-seeded Seattle Sounders for the conference title on Saturday.

Hargress’ 20 help UC Riverside knock off Alcorn State 69-52

Barrington Hargress scored 20 points as UC Riverside beat Alcorn State 69-52 on Sunday night. Hargress shot 6 of 13 from the field, including 4 for 9 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 5 from the free-throw line for the Highlanders (4-3). Nate Pickens scored 14 points while shooting 3 for 8 (3 for 7 from 3-point range) and 5 of 7 from the free-throw line.
