The Canucks’ Record In Back-To-Backs This Season
With the 2024–25 season nearly on the horizon, it’s time to take a look at some of the Vancouver Canucks’ records. By the time the season ends, the Canucks will have played 10 back-to-backs, the last of which they’ll complete after this weekend. Let’s take a look at how they have played during these games.

MVP, Rookie Of The Year, And More: Which Abbotsford Canucks Should Win Each Team Award?
In the opening game of a back-to-back, Vancouver has gone 5–3–1 so far this season. They have scored 23 goals and let in 20. Kevin Lankinen has started five of these games, while Thatcher Demko and Artūrs Šilovs have each started two. The Canucks have had a much worse result in the second half of their back-to-back games, as they’ve gone 2–7–0. They’ve scored 19 goals, including shootout winners, and let in 30. Lankinen has started six of the team’s back-halves, registering a record of 2–4–0. Šilovs started the remaining games, putting up three regulation losses. Vancouver has lost both games in back-to-backs twice, while they have yet to win both. Interestingly enough, every game they played against Utah Hockey Club this season was during a back-to-back, though they ended up losing all matches regardless.
Here is a more in-depth summary of each set of back-to-back games.
November 16 vs. Chicago Blackhawks, November 17 vs. Nashville Predators
Vancouver’s first back-to-back didn’t take place until the middle of November, when they took on the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators at Rogers Arena. In their first game, the Canucks won 4–1, keeping North Vancouver superstar Connor Bedard off the scoresheet. Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, Erik Brännström, and Teddy Blueger scored for the Canucks, while Šilovs stopped all but one of the 29 shots Chicago put on net. Their next game was not as successful, as Nashville beat Vancouver 5–3 after the Predators scored three straight in the second period. Pettersson scored for the second time in as many games, while Aatu Räty and Kiefer Sherwood also found the back of the net.
November 26 @ Boston Bruins, November 27 @ Pittsburgh Penguins
Kevin Lankinen was the star in Vancouver’s first game of this back-to-back, as the Canucks won 2–0 against the Boston Bruins. He made 32 saves to register his second shutout of the season, while Conor Garland and Jake DeBrusk scored for Vancouver. Once again, the second half of their set ended poorly, as the team lost 5–4 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Šilovs started, but let in four Penguins goals by the end of the first period, making the game slightly out of reach despite Vancouver’s attempts to come back. This game’s goals came from Räty, Pius Suter, Quinn Hughes, and Pettersson.
December 18 @ Utah Hockey Club, December 19 @ Vegas Golden Knights
The Canucks’ next back-to-back was headlined by their first ever trip to Salt Lake City, where they took on Utah. This was the first taste of back-to-back action for Demko this season. Although they led 2–0 by the halfway point of the third period thanks to Danton Heinen and Dakota Joshua, Vancouver ultimately lost 3–2 in overtime to Utah off a goal from Mikhail Sergachev. The next night, they lost 3–1 to the Vegas Golden Knights, who were able to capitalize on three of the 19 shots they sent Lankinen’s way. Teddy Blueger was the lone goal-scorer in this match. This was the first time this season that Vancouver lost both games of a back-to-back.
January 2 @ Seattle Kraken, January 3 vs. Nashville Predators
In their 4–3 shootout win against the Seattle Kraken on January 2, Vancouver lost Demko due to injury. Lankinen took his spot, saving 13 of 15 as well as all of Seattle’s shootout attempts. Max Sasson, Garland, and Tyler Myers scored, while J.T. Miller won the game for the Canucks in the shootout. Once again, the game after was dismal for Vancouver, as they failed to score in a 3–0 loss to Nashville. Lankinen started this game as well, letting in one goal on 17 shots.
January 10 @ Carolina Hurricanes, January 11 @ Toronto Maple Leafs
Demko made his return to the lineup on January 10, just in time to help Lankinen out with another back-to-back. However, Vancouver was unable to generate any goals once again, losing 2–0 to a Carolina Hurricanes team that played the night before. In a moment of redemption, however, the Canucks shut out the Toronto Maple Leafs the night after, winning 3–0 in a franchise record-breaking game. In a complete team effort, Brock Boeser, Hughes, and Sherwood scored, while Pettersson made a positive defensive impression with five blocked shots.
February 22 @ Vegas Golden Knights, February 23 @ Utah Hockey Club
The next back-to-back the Canucks played was against Vegas directly after the 4 Nations Faceoff break. Even with a stellar performance from Lankinen, only DeBrusk scored, leaving Vancouver with a 3–1 loss. The night after was nothing to phone home about either, as Vancouver lost 2–1 to Utah after being unable to scrape together any offense aside from yet another goal by DeBrusk.
February 26 @ Los Angeles Kings, February 27 @ Anaheim Ducks
In the first of this back-to-back only three days after their last set, Lankinen started and made 24 saves in a 3–2 overtime win against the Los Angeles Kings. Garland had two goals including the game-winner, while Nils Höglander scored his fifth goal of the season. They managed to pull out a win despite surrendering a two-goal lead. In a disappointing effort, Vancouver lost 5–2 to the Anaheim Ducks the night after, also doing so after leading 2–0. Myers and Suter scored in the first period, but this wasn’t enough to stop Anaheim’s three-straight goals in the second period.
March 11 vs. Montréal Canadiens, March 12 @ Calgary Flames
In the first game of the first back-to-back of the week of March 11, Vancouver took on the Montréal Canadiens at Rogers Arena. Despite goals from Pettersson and Filip Hronek, the Canucks lost 4–2. This was the first game of three for Lankinen this week, as he started in net on March 11, March 12, and March 16. The night after, Vancouver won 4–3 in a shootout against the Calgary Flames, putting up a great performance all around.
March 15 vs. Chicago Blackhawks, March 16 vs. Utah Hockey Club
Vancouver’s most recent back-to-back started excellently, as they took a 6–2 win against Chicago at home. Šilovs started the game, making 17 saves on 19 shots against. 11 different Canucks tallied at least a point, while Suter, Pettersson, Sherwood, Joshua, Blueger, and Höglander each had two. Their second game, against Utah once again, was another case of limited offense in which the Canucks lost 3–1.

Banned Of Brothers: Injuries Force Tkachuk Brothers To Miss Ottawa-Florida Clash
After an evening of celebrating Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin for tying Wayne Gretzky's NHL career goals record, Ottawa Senators fans turn their attention back to their team's pursuit of a playoff spot on Saturday afternoon. The Senators will host the Florida Panthers, the defending Stanley Cup champions, for a 2:00 p.m. matinee start at Canadian Tire Centre.
Both teams will be without some key players. Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, who has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury, isn't expected to play in either game this weekend. He was hurt last Sunday after accidentally running into Penguins defenceman Ryan Graves, who was standing in the neutral zone minding his own business.
If this is just a nagging minor injury, Sens fans are more than glad to see Tkachuk get this time off. But since it's a relatively new issue, it's hard to know if this is something that could affect his playoff status. Right now, he's not even skating.
Florida is also without their Tkachuk brother and captain. Mind you, those are two different people.
Matthew Tkachuk has a lower-body injury and likely won’t return until the playoffs. Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov, who has an upper-body injury, also won’t play this weekend. The Panthers will also be without Nico Sturm and Dmitry Kulikov due to injuries, along with Aaron Ekblad. Ekblad is out until Game 3 of the playoffs due to a 20-game suspension for violating the terms of the league's Performance Enhancing Substances Program.
The champs have lost three games in a row, all to Canadian teams (two against Montreal and one against Toronto), and the Senators would like to keep them on that track. A Sens win on Saturday would start to make things a little uncomfortable for the Panthers, who would have seven games to play and only a four-point lead over Ottawa.
That said, reeling in the Panthers might not be in the Senators' best interest. As things stand now, that would likely give them a matchup with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round—a less favourable matchup than facing the Leafs. Ottawa swept Toronto with a 3-0 record this year.
In their last game, the Senators defeated the Lightning 2-1 on Thursday night, but only because of the heroics of goalie Linus Ullmark, who looked every bit like a former Vezina Trophy winner.
Concerns about seeding, though, are not a priority for this group—breaking the NHL’s third-longest active playoff drought remains the prime directive. Entering play on Saturday, the Senators remain 7 points above the playoff cut line with seven games to play in the Eastern Conference.
The Sens may need a shift or two to get used to Brad Marchand in a Panther uniform. After 16 years as a division rival in Boston, the Bruins traded Marchand to Florida at the deadline. He's off to a slow start, with just one assist in his first four games.
The Sens didn’t have a full skate on Friday, and with a 2 p.m. start, there’s no Saturday morning skate either. So these are the best-guess line combinations, based on recent games.
Update: Anton Forsberg will start for Ottawa against Florida's Sergei Bobrovsky.

Draymond drops perfect Klay joke after Warriors' fifth straight win
Draymond drops perfect Klay joke after Warriors' fifth straight win originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Klay Thompson plays for the Dallas Mavericks now, but his spirit lives on within the Warriors organization — through Draymond Green, that is.
The usually fiery Golden State veteran channeled his former teammate’s chill demeanor after the Warriors’ huge 118-104 win over the Denver Nuggets on Friday, with Green’s third game in four days clearly leaving the 35-year-old exhausted.
“I’m sorry I’m giving y’all the lowest energy ever. I’m exhausted,” Green told reporters at Chase Center after the victory. “But, it’s good. I feel like I sound like Klay Thompson up here. Exhausted, dog … I don’t even know how to make [paper airplanes]. I would make them and fly it across, but I don’t know how to do it.”
Green was pivotal in the Warriors’ fifth consecutive win, delivering another clutch defensive performance that has his name atop the NBA Defensive Player of the Year conversation.
The Golden State star helped slow down NBA MVP candidate Nikola Jokić and the Nuggets’ high-powered offense, just one night after locking up Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Dončić and three days after posting a triple-double in the Warriors’ win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
That's our DPOY 😤pic.twitter.com/mQsX2s5OuQ
— Warriors on NBCS (@NBCSWarriors) April 5, 2025
So, it’s certainly safe to say Green was feeling tired. Thompson was and still is known for his laid-back postgame pressers, often folding his stat sheet into a paper airplane to whisk into the crowd of reporters as he answered a question. And Green always has been the opposite, whether it’s engaging in back-and-forths with the press or providing insightful — albeit long-winded — responses.
But not on Friday night.
“I’m exhausted,” Green said. “I just want to go home, relax, go to sleep. I’m tired.”
Same, Draymond, same 😴 pic.twitter.com/QzZzIvL5PH
— Warriors on NBCS (@NBCSWarriors) April 5, 2025
Green is giving it his all as the Warriors enter their final five regular-season games holding onto the Western Conference’s No. 5 playoff seed. And with the Mavericks sitting in the No. 9 spot, perhaps Green and Thompson will meet again on the court before all is said and done.
Former Maple Leafs Prospect Fraser Minten Recalled From AHL Providence, Set To Make Boston Bruins Debut
The Boston Bruins have recalled forward Fraser Minten from the AHL’s Providence Bruins, the team announced on X on Saturday. The 20-year-old is set to make his debut with the club on Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes.
— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) April 5, 2025
The former Toronto Maple Leafs prospect will be wearing No. 93 with the Bruins, flipping the digits from the No. 39 he wore in Toronto.

— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) April 5, 2025
Minten’s call-up comes as the NHL Bruins have lost 10 straight games, figuring that the team could use a boost and a chance to see what they have in the promising forward – who had three goals, four assists, and seven points in 10 games with their AHL affiliate.
“The reports that we got from Providence were that he's been a very reliable, smart player...he's been playing well down there, and it's an opportunity for the organization to get a look at him,” head coach Joe Sacco told reporters pre-game.

— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) April 5, 2025
Originally drafted 38th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Minten has appeared in 19 career NHL games — all with Toronto. He recorded two goals and two assists during the 2024-25 season, with all four points coming after his initial four-game stint in the 2023-24 campaign, where he failed to record a point.
His path to Boston came on March 7, trade deadline day, when he was dealt to the Bruins as part of a package in exchange for defenseman Brandon Carlo. Before the deal, he had posted 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) in 26 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies in his first season in the AHL.
Despite his 19 games of experience, Minten never had the chance to play in Boston or stepped foot in the city.
"Never skated at this rink before and never been in this city before, so it's all new stuff...I'm just going to play hard like I've been playing in Providence and be a reliable, hard-working guy,” he told reporters, ahead of the game.

— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) April 5, 2025
It’s the mark of a fresh start for Minten in the NHL and perhaps a helping hand for the 29th-ranked Bruins, who look to end their current skid with six games remaining on the regular-season schedule.

By Rob Peterson, Jenna West and Rebecca Tauber
Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Sue Bird, Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles capped off their illustrious careers by being named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class announced at the men’s Final Four in San Antonio on Saturday.
“It’s such a big honor. I’m just so happy, man, this is crazy. I made it to heaven,” Howard said as he teared up in an interview on ESPN after the announcement.
The 2025 class also includes coach Billy Donovan, who won two national championships at Florida and is the current longtime coach of the Chicago Bulls; longtime NBA referee Danny Crawford, who officiated more than 2,000 NBA games over 32 seasons, including 30 finals games; and Miami Heat owner Micky Arison, who has seen his franchise win three titles (2006, 2012, 2013) and seven Eastern Conference championships, including four consecutive from 2011 to 2014. The 2008 “Redeem Team” that took gold at the Beijing Olympics will also be inducted.
Jeff Twiss, the Boston Celtics’ longtime public relations executive, received the John Bunn Award, the Hall’s single-highest award short of enshrinement in the Hall itself. He’s been with the franchise for more than 40 years and is regarded as one of the great professionals on his side of the player-media divide.
Melo doesn’t need an NBA title to enter the Hall
There had been recent online scuttlebutt regarding Anthony’s Hall of Fame credentials because he had never won an NBA title. (He never appeared in an NBA Finals, let alone won a ring.)
But let’s be real here: Anthony entering the Hall of Fame on his first try shouldn’t surprise anyone who paid attention. In 2003, he was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player before leading Syracuse to its only men’s NCAA title. Selected third in the legendary 2003 NBA Draft, Anthony used one of the silkiest shooting strokes to accumulate 28,289 points, 10th on the NBA career scoring list. He’s also a four-time Olympic medalist in men’s basketball, three of them gold in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
The list of players who have scored 28,000-plus points and won an NCAA title, an NBA scoring title (28.7 points per game in 2013) and three Olympic gold medals is a party of one: Anthony.
In a “ringz” culture, it would be easy to cite the lack of an NBA championship (“I’m at peace,” Anthony told Sports Illustrated in 2023) on Anthony’s 19-year career résumé or a major individual award (one top-three MVP finish in 2013) as a reason to downplay his Hall credentials. Still, the 10-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA player built a storied career few, if any, can match.
Howard built his HOF résumé early in his career
Like Anthony, there have been questions about Howard’s Hall of Fame worthiness as people point to his late-career journey. He played for six teams in seven seasons (including the Los Angeles Lakers twice, winning a title with them in the 2020 bubble) and put up pedestrian numbers (11.1 points per game, 10.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 433 games). He was even waived twice, once by Brooklyn in 2018 and once by Memphis in 2019, without playing a game for either franchise.
But Howard built his résumé for Springfield, Mass., early in his career. The Orlando Magic tabbed Howard with the No. 1 pick in 2004, and he made an immediate impact for the franchise. He played in 567 of 574 games in his first seven seasons, led the Magic to the 2009 NBA Finals and won Defensive Player of the Year in three consecutive seasons from 2009 to 2011. Starting with the 2007-08 season, he led the NBA in rebounds five of six seasons, was named First Team All-NBA for five straight seasons and was top-five in MVP voting for four consecutive seasons.
Howard also led the NBA in blocks in 2009 and 2010. His three DPOY awards place him second behind Dikembe Mutombo, Ben Wallace and Rudy Gobert, who each have four. Wallace and Mutombo are in the Hall of Fame; Gobert is still in the NBA. Howard’s 14,627 rebounds put him 10th on the NBA’s career list, and his 2,228 blocks place him 13th all time.
Add in eight All-Star selections, eight All-NBA teams and a 2008 Olympic gold medal during his 18-year career, it’s easy to see why Howard is headed for the Hall. —
Bird enters Naismith as assists leader
Bird enters the Hall after retiring from a 21-year career with the Seattle Storm, during which she won four WNBA titles. From 2002 until her retirement in 2022, Bird tallied a league-leading 3,234 assists and appeared in 580 games.
Before the Storm selected her with the first pick of the 2002 draft, Bird was a star at UConn, guiding the Huskies to two NCAA titles. She also boasts Olympic gold medals from five consecutive Summer Games.
“In the same moment that I’m thinking about the next generation, inspiring them, I’m thinking about those that came before and inspired me,” Bird said in an ESPN interview after the announcement.
Moore built a legacy on and off the court
Moore won four WNBA championships with the Minnesota Lynx, who drafted her with the No. 1 pick in 2011. She was the league’s 2014 Most Valuable Player and won the WNBA Finals MVP in 2013. Moore also won two Olympic gold medals for the U.S.
“It’s just such a humbling thing, because it really makes you feel the bigness of the family of basketball,” Moore said on ESPN.
Moore was a member of UConn’s 90-game winning streak, going 150-4 with the Huskies during her college career.
In 2019, Moore paused her career to advocate for criminal justice reform, helping free her now-husband, Jonathan Irons, from prison due to a wrongful conviction. Moore was also a leader in the Lynx’s protests against police brutality in 2016, helping set the stage for growing political activism across the WNBA in future years.
Fowles stood out with dominant defense, double-doubles
Fowles was a two-time champion with the Lynx and a two-time WNBA Finals MVP. She won four Olympic gold medals for the U.S. and is an eight-time All-Star over her 15 seasons in the league. She was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year four times and led the WNBA in blocks twice.
Fowles is second in WNBA career rebounds at 4,006. In college, she led LSU to four Final Four appearances before being drafted second in 2008 by the Chicago Sky.
In 2018, Fowles became the first player on the Lynx to achieve a 20-point, 20-rebound stat line, with 23 points and 20 rebounds in a game against the Dallas Wings.
“I don’t think neither one of us go into this thinking that we’re gonna be Hall of Famers,” Fowles said on ESPN. “You just do your job, and you go out there and have fun and you enjoy the company, and then when it’s all said and done, the job is complete. And here we are.”
Enshrining ‘The Redeem Team’
Between the Dream Team’s debut in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics through the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, USA Basketball’s men’s team was a dominant force in international basketball, winning three Olympic gold medals and the 1994 FIBA World Championship. That dominance ended in 2002 with a sixth-place finish at the FIBA World Championships, the first time NBA professionals lost in an international competition. (NBA players were locked out in 1998, and weren’t allowed to participate in the FIBA World Championships that year.)
At the 2004 Athens games, the men’s team was filled with talent — Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Anthony and Dwyane Wade — and finished with a bronze medal.
With that third-place finish, USA Basketball was determined to get back to gold medal status and began to require multi-year commitments from players to build a better organizational culture. With James, Anthony and Wade committing through the 2006 FIBA World Championships and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, that trio saw the U.S. finish third in 2006.
In 2008, with those three cornerstones, Team USA added Chris Bosh and, most importantly, Kobe Bryant in their quest to recapture Olympic gold. Bryant provided a razor-sharp competitive edge to a group of young players who needed it. The team, also featuring future Hall of Famers Jason Kidd and Howard, won its five pool play games by an average of 32.2 points. In the medal rounds, the Americans crushed Australia by 30 and Argentina by 20 in the semifinals before defeating Spain 118-107 in what is considered by some as one of the greatest basketball games ever played.
The Redeem Team is the third U.S. men’s Olympic team enshrined in Springfield, with the 1960 gold medal team featuring Oscar Robertson and Jerry West, and the Dream Team.

Nine-man Crystal Palace savour rare double over Brighton after chaotic win
This has been a very, very long time coming for Crystal Palace supporters. The last occasion they were able to celebrate doing the double over Brighton in the 1932-33 season in the old Division Three South, the two clubs weren’t even rivals and it would be another 14 years before Roy Hodgson was born.
But with an FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa to come later this month, Daniel Muñoz’s winner made it another memorable afternoon for Oliver Glasner’s side after Danny Welbeck had cancelled out Jean-Philippe Mateta’s 13th Premier League goal of the season. Not even late red cards for Eddie Nketiah and captain Marc Guéhi could dampen the celebrations in south London as Palace moved to within four points of Fabian Hürzeler’s side with a game in hand.

Ipswich’s hopes of retaining their Premier League status took a huge knock as they lost 2-1 at home to Wolves. The visitors came from behind to extend the gap between the two clubs to 12 points with seven games remaining. Ipswich took the lead through Liam Delap after 16 minutes but Pablo Sarabia equalised in the 72nd minute and Jørgen Strand Larsen completed the turnaround with six minutes remaining.
Kieran McKenna said of his team’s defeat: “I think it was a really competitive first half, the players gave absolutely everything to the first half and second half. If you don’t manage to get a second goal then they [Wolves] are going to go and put some pressure on and we probably weren’t able to maintain our energy levels.”
Continue reading...Joel Embiid, 76ers reportedly disagreed on best way to treat knee issues during season
Embiid's left knee was not good at any point during the season. He had meniscus surgery in early 2024, then pushed to be back for last year's playoffs where his reduced mobility showed despite him putting up big numbers (33 points and 10.8 rebounds a game, but shooting just 44.4%). Then he played for USA Basketball, winning gold at the Paris Olympics. He was slowed from the start of training camp and played in just 19 games for the Sixers, seemingly suffering a setback every time he tried to ramp up. The 76ers shut him down for the season, and it was eventually announced that he would have another surgery on his knee.
Surgery is what Embiid wanted — he met with multiple doctors about it — but the team saw a different path at points and the sides clashed, Shams Charania of ESPN reported this week on First Take (hat tip Real GM).
"There was some tension there between Joel Embiid and that front office, from my understanding. The team believed he needed to play at some points of the season, that he needed to get his conditioning right through playing and getting better that way. He felt like he needed surgery. He ends up getting the surgery."
It's Embiid's body, he knows it better than anyone, and he should do what he feels is best for his career (and life after basketball). Getting his knee scoped was one of several options that doctors presented to Embiid and the 76ers, Charania said, including more "radical" options that would have had Embiid out all of next season. With arthroscopic surgery, Embiid should be back and ready to play at the start of next season.
Expectations are part of the game. There were reports out of Philadelphia that Embiid was looking for a surgery or fix that would allow him to return to not just his MVP season level, where he was dominant on the court for 30+ minutes a night, 65+ games a season, as he did then. That ship may have sailed. Even with this latest surgery, Embiid's left knee seems to be a chronic issue that will limit how much he can play during the regular season in the future (the goal will be making sure he is ready for the playoffs.
Despite a massively disappointing season that sees the Sixers with the fifth-worst record in the league, Philadelphia is expected to run it back next season. Part of that is financial reality: Embiid's three-year, $192.9 million contract extension doesn't even kick in until the 2026-27 season, Paul George has three years and $162 million on his contract after this season, and those two deals are borderline untradable because of the players' injury histories. Tyrese Maxey will also be back and remains the bridge to the post-Embiid future in Philly (whenever that might be).
It's going to be an interesting offseason in Philadelphia, but hopefully, we'll see more of Embiid on a basketball court next season.
Rumor: Top SHL Goalie Will Sign With Detroit
Swedish goaltender Arvid Holm, 26, is expected sign with the Detroit Red Wings this off-season, according to a tweet from Cam Robinson, Content Director and Director of Film Scouting for EliteProspects.com.
Playing for Rögle BK in the SHL this past season, the 6-foot-5 Holm posted a 1.90 goals-against average, a .925 save percentage and four shutouts while playing in 35 of his team’s 52 regular-season games and was awarded the Honken Trophy as the league’s top goaltender. In the 14-team league, Rögle was tied for the fifth-best goals against total but was ranked 12th in goals scored.
Rögle finished seventh in the regular season before losing two straight games to the 10th-place Malmö Redhawks in a play-in series by scores of 2-1 in overtime and 3-0.
Holm still has another two years remaining on his contract with Rögle but European contracts commonly contain escape clauses should the player receive an NHL offer.
Originally from Ljungby, Sweden, Holm played for the Ljungby-Troja, Karlskrona and Färjestad clubs and was a sixth-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
Holm played three seasons in North America from 2021 to 2024 in the Winnipeg and Colorado Avalanche systems, playing in pre-season games and serving as the backup for both teams in a handful of NHL games, but didn’t earn any NHL regular-season minutes. Patrick Kane Hits New Milestones in Win over Hurricanes
Patrick Kane may not have hit the most notable benchmark around the NHL Friday night (that distinction of course belongs to Alex Ovechkin, who equaled Wayne Gretzky's 894 career goals), but in the Red Wings ' 5–3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, Kane hit a handful of new milestones.

With his goal in Friday night's win, Kane hit 20 goals for the season for the 17th time in his career, passing Mike Modano for the most 20-goal campaigns by a U.S. born skater in NHL history. He also tied Sidney Crosby for the second most 20-goal seasons among active players (trailing only Ovechkin). It also gave Kane his 100th point as a Detroit Red Wing.

After the game, Detroit coach Todd McLellan joked that the team's PR staff didn't have time to fill him in on all of Kane's accolades in the time it took to walk from the dressing room to the press room, before adding, "It's an honor to be around him and watch him play and perform, and he's still like a young kid. It's fun."

Kane himself recalled his boyhood affinity for Modano growing up in Buffalo. "He was one of my favorite players," Kane said. "The way he skated up and down the ice, his jersey flapping behind him, one of the best American players of all time, so a lot of respect for him and what he's done in this league. Obviously he broke my heart in '99 when they beat the Sabres in the Cup Finals, but I definitely remember watching him growing up and how fun he was, so explosive and scored so many highlight reel goals."
It's not 'most goals ever,' but the latest bevy of milestones offers one more reminder of Kane's excellence and his endurance.
