Backrower Harry Wilson will become the 90th Wallabies captain with coach Joe Schmidt making five changes to his starting line-up for the Argentina Test, as Australia chase their first win of the Rugby Championship. The Wallabies play the first of two Tests against the Pumas in Buenos Aires on Sunday 8am AEST.

Among the changes after two losses to South Africa to open the tournament, Hamish Stewart will make his Test debut and replace injured Queensland teammate Hunter Paisami in the centres. Jake Gordon has regained the No 9 jersey after recovering from a head knock, with Tate McDermott again coming off the bench, linking with Noah Lolesio in the halves.

Australia centre Hunter Paisami has been ruled out of the Wallabies’ Argentina tour due to injury in another blow for Joe Schmidt’s side following back-to-back losses to South Africa in the Rugby Championship.

Paisami suffered an apparent knee injury and came off the field early in the Wallabies’ 30-12 loss to the Springboks in Perth at the weekend. He was omitted from the 35-man squad named on Tuesday for the two-Test series against the Pumas starting in La Plata on 31 August, joining a long injury list that includes winger Filipo Daugunu and loose forwards Fraser McReight and Liam Wright.

Lions announce historic rugby first with Dublin match against Argentina

The British & Irish Lions will take on Argentina in Dublin in preparation for their 2025 tour to Australia in what will be their first ever match in Ireland, the team said on Thursday.

The game will be held at the Aviva Stadium on 20 June 2025, and the two teams will play for the Lions 1888 Cup, which marks the first year British teams toured the southern hemisphere.
