A disastrous start creates a long night in WVU’s loss to Kansas State

It was more of the same for West Virginia on Saturday against Kansas State. The Wildcats raced out to a 19-2 lead, as WVU’s offense once again struggled in a 73-60 loss from Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas. The Mountaineers hoped they could hit the reset button after their loss on Tuesday, which saw them shoot 31 percent from the field and go 4-for-29 from three.

Scharnowski scores 20 off the bench, Belmont beats Murray State 95-77

Drew Scharnowski's 20 points off of the bench helped lead Belmont to a 95-77 victory over Murray State on Saturday night. Scharnowski had eight rebounds for the Bruins (15-6, 7-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Carter Whitt scored 17 points while shooting 5 for 15 (1 for 3 from 3-point range) and 6 of 6 from the free-throw line and added six assists and three steals.

Strong carries No. 6 UConn until Bueckers finds her touch in 2nd half of 72-61 win over Creighton

Sarah Strong had her fifth double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds, Paige Bueckers scored 19 of her 22 points in the second half, and No. 6 UConn beat Creighton 72-61 Saturday in a battle for the Big East lead. The Huskies (19-2, 10-0) won their ninth straight and 30th in a row in Big East regular-season play. Morgan Maly and Molly Mogensen each scored 14 points to lead the Bluejays.
