Kam Jones had 18 points and 10 assists to lead a balanced Marquette offense as the No. 8 Golden Eagles cruised to a 78-50 win over Providence on Tuesday night. Stevie Mitchell added 14 points on 5-8 shooting for Marquette, which made 11 threes. David Joplin and Zaide Lowry each had 11 points for the Golden Eagles (12-2, 3-0 Big East).

Steven Ashworth had 18 points and Creighton held off St. John’s 57-56 on Tuesday, ending the Red Storm’s six-game win streak.

West Virginia coach Darian DeVries walked into the interview room at Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday wearing a shirt that read “No Excuses,” even though he would have had plenty of them had seventh-ranked Kansas completed a frantic second-half rally.

Atin Wright buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer, scoring 22 points to rally North Texas to a 78-75 victory over UAB on Tuesday. Wright shot 4 for 12 (3 for 8 from 3-point range) and 11 of 11 from the free-throw line for the Mean Green (10-3, 1-0 American Athletic Conference). Latrell Jossell scored 20 points and added four steals.

Delonnie Hunt scored the final six points of the game at the free-throw line in the final 24 seconds and Richmond rallied to beat George Washington 66-61 on Tuesday night. Hunt also had six steals for the Spiders (6-8, 1-0 Atlantic 10 Conference). Dusan Neskovic added 17 points.

Cooper Flagg scored 24 points as No. Duke won its seventh straight game, beating Virginia Tech 88-65 on Tuesday. Tyrese Proctor and Kon Knueppel both had 13 points, Isaiah Evans posted 12 points and Sion James and Mason Gillis added 10 points apiece for Duke (11-2, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Kanon Catchings buried three from 3-point range and scored 11 for BYU.

Kobe Knox scored 18 points off of the bench to lead South Florida over East Carolina 75-69 on Tuesday in an American Athletic Conference opener. Knox shot 7 for 8 (3 for 3 from 3-point range) and 1 of 3 from the free-throw line for the Bulls (8-6). Jayden Reid scored 11 points while shooting 1 for 9 (1 for 4 from 3-point range) and 8 of 8 from the free-throw line and added five rebounds and four steals.
