Freshman C.J. Cox scored nine of his 11 points during a game-turning 13-0 run in the second half to help No. 13 Purdue get past No. 2 Alabama 87-78 on Friday night.

Davis Molnar finished 3 of 5 from the floor to finish with six points. Asher Woods finished with 17 points for the Green Wave (3-1). Gregg Glenn III added 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

Elijah Strong scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Donald Hand Jr. scored 17 points and Boston College held off Temple for a 72-69 win on Friday night. Chad Venning added 10 points for Boston College (2-1) who beat the Owls for the first time in program history.

Darryl Simmons II scored 15 points as Gardner-Webb held off Elon 80-79 on Friday night. Simmons also added five rebounds for the Runnin' Bulldogs (2-2). Pharell Boyogueno shot 5 for 8, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc to add 14 points.

Jahmyl Telfort scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and Butler beat SMU 81-70 on Friday night, handing the Mustangs their first loss of the season. Telfort, who made just 1 of 7 shots in the first half, hit 5 of 9 with two 3-pointers in the second for the Bulldogs (3-1), who have opened with four straight home games. Kolby King and Pierre Brooks both scored 14 for Butler.

Trey Kaufman-Renn scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and freshman C.J. Cox scored nine of his 11 points during a game-turning 13-0 run midway through the second half to help No. 13 Purdue get past No. 2 Alabama 87-78 on Friday night. The Boilermakers (4-0) have won 21 consecutive home games and 25 straight in November. Braden Smith had 17 points and 10 assists as he moved into third place on Purdue's career assists list with 483.

Simas Lukosius had 19 points including five 3-pointers, Jizzle James scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half, and No. 17 Cincinnati eased by Nicholls State 86-49 on Friday night. Dillon Mitchell had 12 points and nine rebounds and Arrinten Page added 11 points for Cincinnati, which returned after a week off following an 83-56 victory over Morehead State on Nov. 8. The Bearcats have now started 3-0 in each of Wes Miller’s four years at the helm.

Dylan Harper scored 20 points, fellow freshman Ace Bailey had 17 in his college debut and No. Rutgers beat Monmouth 98-81 on Friday night. After missing the first two games of the season with what coach Steve Pikiell called a “basketball injury,” Bailey made the first shot of the game — a 3-pointer from the right corner.

Walter Clayton scored 16 of his 25 points in the first half and No. 20 Florida held off a late rally to beat Florida State 87-74 on Friday night. Florida’s Todd Golden coached his first road game after allegations of sexual harassment and stalking surfaced last week. Golden was greeted by boos from a sold-out Florida State student section.

Michigan basketball committed turnovers on 42.1% of its first half possessions, yet picked up a much-needed Power Four win vs. TCU, 76-64.

Nimari Burnett scored 16 points, Danny Wolf had 14 points, 14 rebounds and four assists, and Michigan beat TCU 76-64 on Friday night. Wolf gave Michigan a 53-43 lead with 12 minutes left but the Wolverines only made two field goals over the next six minutes to have their lead trimmed to 63-60 with 6:16 remaining. TCU didn't make its next field goal until the 2:19 mark when Trazarien White converted a fast-break layup to make it 72-64.

Nick Johnson scored 17 points to lead Winthrop and Bryce Baker knocked down a game-winning 3-pointer just before the final buzzer as the Eagles defeated William & Mary 86-85 on Friday night. Johnson also contributed three steals for the Eagles (3-1). Baker scored 16 points while going 6 of 11 (4 for 9 from 3-point range) and added six rebounds.

UConn's Geno Auriemma sounded more interested in getting his team ready to contend for a national championship than adding another coaching milestone to a Hall of Fame career. The 70-year-old Auriemma earned his 1,216th win Friday night as his No. 2 Huskies beat No. 14 North Carolina 69-58.

Isaac McKneely scored 23 points and made all six of his 3-point attempts to help Virginia beat Villanova 70-60 on Friday night as part of the Hall of Fame Series. Virginia is 3-0 under interim coach Ron Sanchez after three-time national coach of the year Tony Bennett retired. McKneely made his first six shots of the game, including four 3-pointers.
