Kaden Metheny led Liberty with 15 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with four seconds remaining, and the Flames defeated Seattle University 66-64 on Saturday night. Metheny shot 5 for 9, including 5 for 8 from beyond the arc for the Flames (2-0). Jay Maughmer scored 12 points while shooting 5 for 6, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc.

TJ Simpkins scored 21 points off the bench to help lead Elon over Bluefield College 103-66 on Saturday night. Simpkins added three steals for the Phoenix (1-1). Nick Dorn added 16 points while shooting 4 for 10 (2 for 8 from 3-point range) and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line while they also had five rebounds.

The Arkansas basketball team (1-1) was thwarted by a tough Baylor (1-1) zone defense in the Razorbacks' 72-67 loss Saturday at American Airlines Center in Dallas. For the second straight game, Arkansas missed its first nine three-point attempts before forward Adou Thiero — who led the Hogs with 24 points — cashed a shot from distance with 9:20 minutes to go in the first half. As a team, the Razorbacks shot 5-of-20 from beyond the arc (25.0%) and 24-of-58 from the field (41.4%) and turned the ball over 11 times against the Bears.

Dorian Finister had 15 points and 11 rebounds to power Sam Houston to a 91-62 victory over Tarleton State on Saturday night. Lamar Wilkerson also scored 15 on 5-for-10 shooting with three 3-pointers for the Bearkats (1-1). Kian Scroggins shot 4 of 6 from the field and 6 for 9 from the free-throw line to finish with 14 points.

Nico Galette scored 20 points to help Youngstown State defeat Chicago State 80-60 on Saturday night. Galette also contributed nine rebounds for the Penguins in their season opener. Juwan Maxey scored 14 points, going 4 of 9 from the floor, including 3 for 8 from 3-point range, and 3 for 4 from the line.

Alex Karaban had 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots to help No. 3 UConn beat New Hampshire 92-53 on Saturday night.

Jamir Watkins scored 17 of his 30 points in the second-half Saturday night and Florida State never trailed as the Seminoles beat Rice 73-65 in the Battleground 2k24 at the Toyota Center. Watkins made 7 of 14 from the field, 2 of 4 from 3-point range and 14 of 22 from the free-throw line. Malique Ewin scored 11 points (all in the second half) and finished with seven rebounds for Florida State (2-2).

Nate Santos and Robert Morris transfer Enoch Cheeks each scored 16 points and Dayton took control of the game's tempo in the second half to come from eight points down to beat Northwestern 71-66 on Saturday night. Dayton snapped a three-game losing string to the Wildcats and evened the all-time series at 3-3. Dayton got within a point at 51-50 after Javon Bennett knocked down a 3-pointer and Malachi Smith converted at the basket with 8:13 left.

Alex Karaban had 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots to help No. 3 UConn beat New Hampshire 92-53 on Saturday night. Karaban scored four of the final six points of the first half as UConn (2-0) took a 35-24 advantage into the break. The only returning starter for the two-time defending national champions had a pair of early 3-pointers in the second half to give UConn some breathing room against the Wildcats.

Jayden Nunn had 16 points while Norchad Omier had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as eighth-ranked Baylor bounced back from a season-opening blowout loss and held on to beat No. 16 Arkansas 72-67 on Saturday night. There were three ties in their second game, and Nunn hit go-ahead baskets each time. Arkansas (1-1) was within 70-67 when freshman Boogie Fland, who finished with 17 points and seven assists, hit a long 3-pointer with 24 seconds left.

Lance Williams scored 15 points to help Xavier of Louisiana defeat Alcorn State 62-56 on Saturday night. Williams added three steals for the Gold Nuggets. Seviuhn Turner added 13 points while shooting 3 for 12 (1 for 4 from 3-point range) and 6 of 7 from the free-throw line with 11 rebounds.

Jordan Stiemke scored 12 points off the bench to help lead Loyola Maryland over Lancaster Bible College 83-42 on Saturday night. Stiemke went 4 of 6 from the field (3 for 5 from 3-point range) for the Greyhounds (1-1). Braeden Speed scored 11 points while shooting 2 of 4 from the field and 7 for 8 from the line and added five steals.

Jason Fontenet II had 21 points in UC Santa Barbara's 94-53 win against Portland on Saturday night. Fontenet went 8 of 9 from the field (5 for 6 from 3-point range) for the Gauchos (2-0). Kenny Pohto scored 16 points and added five rebounds.

The No. 16 Arkansas Razorbacks (1-1) dropped their first game of the season in a 72-67 loss Saturday to a talented No. 8 Baylor Bears (1-1) squad in the Lone Star Showcase at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Arkansas never led in the game, which was also dubbed the “Dallas Duel,” and the Hogs only managed to tie the score up on one occasion (44-44). The Razorbacks again struggled from behind the arc, as they shot 5-for-20 from three on the evening.
