The No. 23 Arkansas Razorbacks (11-3, 0-1 SEC) were smacked with a dose of reality on the offensive end in their 72-56 SEC opening loss to No. 1 Tennessee on Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena. To be completely fair to the Hogs, the Vols entered the game with the nation's second-best scoring defense (56.2 points allowed per game), but that doesn't change what became painfully obvious throughout the loss: Arkansas' offense — at least, this version of it — isn't good enough to compete at the very top of the SEC. "They kind of manhandled us," head coach John Calipari said after the game.

A first half to remember for WVU as it propels them a win on Saturday
After a slow start, it was a wild close to the first half for the Mountaineers. Powell knocked down three triples in the first half, including two, as he and Javon Small guided WVU to a 12-0 run in less than two minutes as the Mountaineers opened up a 22-6 lead. While the shots started falling for the Mountaineers, the intensity on defense was also cranked up.

Ian Jackson scored a career-high 27 points, Elliot Cadeau scored North Carolina's last six points in the final 22 seconds, and the Tar Heels edged Notre Dame 74-73 on Saturday. Cadeau hit a driving layup to get North Carolina (9-6, 2-1 ACC) within 71-70 with 22 seconds left, then Notre Dame's Matt Allocco was fouled and made two free throws with 14 seconds remaining. At the other end, Allocco fouled Cadeau on a 3-pointer to set up the winning free throw.
