Zaire Hayes had 24 points to lead Texas Southern to a 71-66 victory over Grambling in overtime on Monday night. Hayes shot 8 for 15 (3 for 7 from 3-point range) and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line for the Tigers (4-11, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Kavion McClain added 11 points and five assists.

Devin Royal had 19 points and Bruce Thornton scored five of his 18 in a second overtime as Ohio State rallied to beat Minnesota 89-88 on Monday night. Thornton hit a 3-pointer for Ohio State (10-5, 2-2 Big Ten Conference) to begin the second extra period, Aaron Bradshaw followed with a three-point play and Ques Glover capped a 7-0 run with a layup to give the Buckeyes the lead for good. Minnesota (8-7, 0-4) had a chance to win in the first overtime, but Mike Mitchell Jr. — a 91% free-throw shooter — missed twice with six seconds left and the Golden Gophers leading 73-71.

Crowl hit 8 of 11 shots with two 3-pointers on the way to his first double-double of the season.

Noah Reynolds scored 19 points and Vasean Allette added 11 for TCU (8-6, 1-2). The Horned Frogs shot 43% but struggled from deep, finishing 3 of 18 on 3s. TCU: The Horned Frogs need more production from their bench.

Julian Mackey scored 22 points and Houston Christian beat Stephen F. Austin 83-73 on Monday night. Elijah Brooks totaled 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.

DJ Richards had 20 points to help McNeese defeat Northwestern State 92-69 on Monday night. Richards shot 6 for 9 (6 for 7 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line for the Cowboys (10-5, 4-0 Southland Conference). Sincere Parker scored 18 points and had three steals.

Jalen Myers scored 20 points as Norfolk State beat Delaware State 73-64 on Monday night. Myers added nine rebounds for the Spartans (11-7, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Sin'Cere McMahon scored 15 points while shot 2 for 4 from beyond the arc and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line.

The Pitt Panthers team picked up a pair of ACC wins last week to bring their record to 3-0 in league play. Jeff Capel’s team owns a 12-2 overall record, and perhaps now enters its biggest week of the season to date. The Panthers also host an upstart Louisville team for a big home game on Saturday.

While UCLA, Southern Cal, Notre Dame and Ohio State all recently returned key players, Connecticut and South Carolina are now facing the potential of playing without stars.
