Conwell scores 34, Xavier takes down Villanova 69-63

Ryan Conwell scored 16 of his 34 points in the final five minutes as Xavier beat Villanova 69-63 on Tuesday night. Conwell converted a four-point play with 1:40 remaining to give Xavier a 59-58 lead and begin a personal 9-0 run. He also made four straight free throws in the final 20 seconds.

AP men’s player of the week: Duke’s Cooper Flagg makes ACC history

The 18-year-old made Atlantic Coast Conference history with third-ranked Duke to win the AP's top weekly honor for the second time this season. The 6-foot-9 freshman forward scored 42 points in Saturday's victory over Notre Dame to set an ACC freshman single-game record. It was the best scoring output by a Blue Devils player since Danny Ferry had a program-record 58 points at Miami in December 1988, and it was the most by a Duke player at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1976.

Still winless in league play, Longhorns and Sooners finding life hard in SEC men’s basketball

Texas and Oklahoma thought they were leaving the toughest basketball league in the country, only to land right in the middle of this season's version. The Longhorns and Sooners both left the Big 12 after last season when that league had a reputation as the roughest, toughest conference out there. The Longhorns (11-5) and Sooners (13-3) are both 0-3 in league play heading into their rivalry matchup Wednesday night, and the Sooners dropped out of the rankings this week from No. 17.
