Pjay Smith Jr.'s 21 points helped Furman defeat East Tennessee State 73-70 on Wednesday night. Smith had six rebounds for the Paladins (15-3, 3-2 Southern Conference). Nick Anderson shot 4 of 5 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line to add 14 points.

Michigan State basketbal fought off a feisty Penn State squad, 90-85, to stay undefeated in the Big Ten with their 10th straight win.

West Virginia was completely overwhelmed in the final stretch of the first half and then again in the second half against No. 10 Houston on Wednesday night at the Fertitta Center. Whether it was on offense or defense, the Cougars flexed their muscle, as despite a valiant effort from WVU to keep it close Houston roared to a 70-54 victory, extending their home winning streak to 32 games. Sustained success on offense has been an issue for West Virginia as of late and it’s even more of an issue playing the top defense in many statistical categories nationally.

Bash Wieland had 20 points in Chattanooga's 83-81 overtime victory over Wofford on Wednesday night. Wieland also added five rebounds for the Mocs (11-7, 3-2 Southern Conference). Trey Bonham scored 15 points while shooting 5 for 9, including 3 for 5 from beyond the arc and added six assists.

Ali Abdou Dibba scored 22 points as Southern Illinois beat Missouri State 73-51 on Wednesday night. Dibba also contributed seven rebounds for the Salukis (7-11, 2-5 Missouri Valley Conference). Kennard Davis scored 18 points while shooting 6 for 13 (3 for 7 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line and added eight rebounds.

Maximus Edwards scored 22 points off of the bench to help lead Duquesne past George Washington 73-65 on Wednesday night. Edwards also contributed four steals for the Dukes (8-9, 3-1 Atlantic 10 Conference). Tre Dinkins shot 3 of 10 from the field, including 1 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 6 from the line to add 12 points.

Donovan Atwell scored 19 points as UNC Greensboro beat Citadel 70-57 on Wednesday night. Atwell shot 6 for 12, including 5 for 9 from beyond the arc for the Spartans (11-7, 4-1 Southern Conference). Joryam Saizonou added 16 points while going 4 of 10 from the floor, including 3 for 6 from 3-point range, and 5 for 6 from the line and also had 10 assists.

Jaden Brownell had 18 points in Samford's 75-74 victory over Mercer on Wednesday night. Brownell shot 6 for 12 (2 for 6 from 3-point range) and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line for the Bulldogs (15-3, 5-0 Southern Conference). Collin Holloway added 11 points while shooting 3 of 8 from the field and 4 for 7 from the line while he also had eight rebounds.

Chace Davis' 14 points helped Radford defeat Gardner-Webb 79-75 on Wednesday night. Davis shot 4 for 5 (3 for 4 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line for the Highlanders (13-6, 3-1 Big South Conference). David Early scored 11 points while shooting 4 for 6, including 3 for 4 from beyond the arc.

Josh Bascoe had 17 points in Bucknell's 86-82 win over Holy Cross on Wednesday night. Bascoe added five assists for the Bison (7-11, 3-2 Patriot League). Ruot Bijiek scored 14 points and added five rebounds.

Reserve Jaden Schutt scored 17 points and made two foul shots with 2.3 seconds left to help Virginia Tech storm back down the stretch and beat N.C. State 79-76 on Wednesday night. Forced to go the length of the court following Schutt's go-ahead foul shots that made it 77-76, Ben Burnham stole the inbound pass intended for the Wolfpack's Ben Middlebrooks, drove the lane and dunked it as time expired for the final margin. With six seconds left, Schutt came up short on a 3-point attempt with the Hokies down 76-75.

Curtis Jones scored 25 points in his second start of the season to lead No. 2 Iowa State to a 74-57 win over No. 9 Kansas on Wednesday night, the Cyclones' 12th straight victory. Jones, who scored a season-high 26 points off the bench against Texas Tech on Saturday, looked just as comfortable starting in Momcilovic's place. Dishon Jackson tied his season high with 17 points in his first appearance off the bench this season.

Pierre Brooks' 19 points helped Butler defeat Seton Hall 82-77 on Wednesday night. Brooks shot 6 for 11 (1 for 5 from 3-point range) and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line for the Bulldogs (8-10, 1-6 Big East Conference). Andre Screen scored 16 points while going 6 of 8 and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line and added five rebounds.

Darius Maddox's 20 points helped George Mason defeat Dayton 67-59 on Wednesday night. Maddox shot 8 for 11, including 4 for 5 from beyond the arc for the Patriots (13-5, 4-1 Atlantic 10 Conference). Jalen Haynes scored 12 points while finishing 5 of 8 from the floor.

Iowa State took down Kansas on Wednesday night behind an impressive defensive effort and clutch buckets on offense.
