Terrence Edwards Jr. scored 18 points as No. 21 Louisville cruised to a 72-59 win over Wake Forest on Tuesday. A 12-0 run midway through the first half gave the Cardinals (16-5, 9-1 ACC) a 26-11 lead with 8:26 left and they led by 29 in the second half. Reyne Smith added 16 points, and Chucky Hepburn finished with 14 points and eight assists as Louisville extended its winning streak to 10 games.

Newell scores 17 points, grabs 10 rebounds; Georgia beats South Carolina 71-60 to end 4-game skid

Asa Newell scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Georgia to a 71-60 victory over South Carolina on Tuesday night. Georgia (15-6, 3-5 Southeastern Conference) snapped a four-game skid while South Carolina (10-11, 0-8) extended its losing streak to eight games. Dakota Leffew added 14 points for the Bulldogs, who never trailed and shot 51% (26 of 51) from the field.

The senior forward from Baltimore, Maryland, had career-highs of 27 points and 17 rebounds in leading Maryland to a 91-70 rout of then-No. 17 Illinois on the road, then had 14 points and 10 boards in a 79-78 win at Indiana. The 6-foot-9 forward, who has spent his entire career with the Terps, is one of eight players in school history with at least 1,100 points and 800 rebounds.

COLUMN: Trojans lament missed opportunity in loss to rival UCLA

This one will linger with the USC men's basketball team. Despite trailing most of the game Monday night against rival UCLA, the Trojans had every opportunity to steal a victory in the final minutes -- a win that would have sure helped their hopes to get in the NCAA tournament conversation, a win that would have resonated well with the best crowd of the season at Galen Center. After being down by as many as 12 points midway through the second half, USC had a chance to tie it up with 1:54 remaining when former Trojan Kobe Johnson -- now with the rival Bruins -- fouled out of the game to the delight of that loud and highly-engaged crowd and sent Wesley Yates III to the foul line with the hosts down 2 points.
