Auburn’s Broome says there’s no pain in his elbow and he will be ready to face Florida in Final Four

Auburn forward Johni Broome returned to practice for the Tigers on Thursday and said he has no pain in his right elbow and “no limitations” ahead of the Tigers' Final Four matchup with Florida. Broome, a unanimous first-team AP All-American, is the Tigers' leading scorer and emotional leader. Auburn got a major scare when he injured his elbow in the Tigers' win over Michigan State to get to the Final Four.

Jamion Christian returns from overseas to replace Phil Martelli Jr. as Bryant’s basketball coach

Bryant has hired Jamion Christian to replace Phil Martelli Jr. as its men's basketball coach, the school announced Thursday. Christian will move to the Rhode Island school after spending the last two seasons as coach of Pallacanestro Trieste of the Italian Professional Basketball League. Christian also has had prior head coaching jobs at George Washington, Siena and Mount St. Mary’s.

Cincinnati meets UCF in CBC

The Bearcats are 8-14 against Big 12 opponents and 11-1 in non-conference play. Cincinnati scores 70.9 points and has outscored opponents by 5.3 points per game. The Knights are 8-14 in Big 12 play.

Maryland’s Buzz Williams confident in school’s commitment as he takes over basketball program

Whatever misgivings Kevin Willard may have had about coaching basketball at Maryland, Buzz Williams' arrival shows the job is still pretty enticing. In Williams, the Terrapins hired an experienced replacement who has had some success in highly competitive leagues. “Relative to what I thought was important on the commitment going forward, on what is needed to be successful at the highest level, there was never any question from (Maryland) on the commitment for us, me, the staff, NIL, the players, the resources,” Williams said.
