It ended the nation's longest active win streak at 14 and earned the Red Flash their second trip to the NCAA Tournament. No. 3 seed St. Francis (16-17) had lost five in a row to the Blue Devils (25-7), including twice this season by a combined 31 points.

Coleman Hawkins had a season-best 26 points, David N'Guessan converted a crucial three-point play in the final minute, and No. 10 seed Kansas State beat No. 15 seed Arizona State 71-66 in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament on Tuesday night. Hakim Byrd had 19 points in Utah Tech's 72-65 victory against Southern Utah on Tuesday in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament to snap a 13-game losing streak. Byrd added three steals for the Trailblazers (7-25). Noa Gonsalves scored 14 points, shooting 5 for 11, including 3 for 5 from beyond the arc.

Arizona State men's basketball coach Bobby Hurley is expected to return for his 11th season, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity before the Sun Devils' Big 12 Tournament game against Kansas State on Tuesday because no official announcement has been made. Hurley has one year left on his contract in a tenure that's included three trips to the NCAA Tournament and multiple seasons with key injuries, including this year.

The Big 12 will reduce its men's conference basketball schedule to 18 games next season, answering the concerns of numerous coaches who argued that the 20-game grind of this past season provided their teams with no time for rest. The conference, which began its postseason tournament Tuesday, expanded to 16 teams this season with the addition of Utah, Arizona and Arizona State along with the return of Colorado from the Pac-12. “That is our anticipation to go to 18 games,” said Brian Thornton, the Big 12 vice president who oversees men's basketball.
