A 29-year-old right-hander, Flaherty was 13-7 with a 3.17 ERA in 28 starts last year for Detroit and his hometown Los Angeles Dodgers, who acquired him on July 30 at the trade deadline.
Williams was 10 for 18 from the field and added seven rebounds and six assists as the Cornhuskers (14-8, 4-7 Big Ten) won their fourth game of the season over a ranked opponent. Juwan Gary added 23 points for the Cornhuskers.
The 4-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights came a month after Quick’s previous win and this one was extra special as it was the 400th of his career. That made him the first U.S.-born goaltender to reach the milestone.
