Knicks open to moving Guerschon Yabusele ahead of 2025 NBA trade deadline
The Knicks are open to moving Guerschon Yabusele ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline, as first reported by James L. Edwards of the Athletic.
SNY’s Ian Begley has confirmed the report.
Yabusele’s time in the Big Apple hasn’t quite started as planned.
The big man has struggled to find his footing over the first two months, averaging under 10 minutes per game after being the Knicks’ biggest free agent addition this summer.
He’s seen his numbers drop off on both ends of the floor, producing just 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds on 39.4 percent shooting from the field through 26 games.
Yabusele is making $5.5 million this season and has a club option for next year.
League executives told Edwards that the Knicks will likely have to give up other assets for another team to take on his contract.
(12-22-25) Blues-Lightning Gameday Lineup
The St. Louis Blues (14-15-8) have one final game remaining before hitting a four-day Christmas break, and they hope to build off recent success when they finish a two-game Florida trip on Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning (19-13-3) at 6 p.m. (FDSNMW, ESPN 101.1-FM).
The Blues are coming off one of their most impressive wins of the season when they took down the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, 6-2, on Saturday. It was their highest offensive output of the season, surpassing the five goals they scored against the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 14.
And something that hasn't been seen often this season, they got contributions from everybody, from top-end players like Robert Thomas, who will play in his 500th NHL game on Monday with two goals and an assist, to newcomers Jonatan Berggren (one goal, two assists) and Otto Stenberg, who picked up his first two NHL points with two assists. Jake Neighbours had two goals to become the first Blue to reach double figures with 10, and Justin Faulk is right behind with nine and is on pace to break his career high of 17 he set with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2016-17 after a combined six in the past two seasons (138 games).
A win on Monday, which would five the Blues points in four of five games and end a stretch of 11 games in 19 days, as crazy as it sounds, move them within one point of a wild card in the Western Conference playoff race (pending results of Tuesday games) heading into Christmas and get them to .500 for the first time since the seventh game of the season (3-3-1).
The Blues have lost their last four visits to Tampa by a cumulative score of 18-6. including 3-1 last season on Dec. 19, 2024.
The only lineup change from Saturday is Jordan Binnington get the nod in goal.
- - -
Blues Projected Lineup:
Jonatan Berggren-Robert Thomas-Pavel Buchnevich
Jake Neighbours-Brayden Schenn-Otto Stenberg
Pius Suter-Dalibor Dvorsky-Robby Fabbri
Alexey Toropchenko-Oskar Sundqvist-Mathieu Joseph
Philip Broberg-Colton Parayko
Tyler Tucker-Justin Faulk
Cam Fowler-Logan Mailloux
Jordan Binnington will start in goal; Joel Hofer will be the backup.
The healthy scratch includes Matthew Kessel. Jordan Kyrou (lower body), Dylan Holloway (high ankle sprain), Jimmy Snuggerud (wrist), Nathan Walker (upper body) and Nick Bjugstad (upper body) are all out.

Lightning Projected Lineup:
Pontus Homberg-Brayden Point-Nikita Kucherov
Jake Guentzel-Anthony Cirelli-Nick Paul
Zemgus Girgensons-Yanni Gourde-Oliver Bjorkstrand
Gage Goncalves-Jack Finley-Dominic James
J.J. Moser-Darren Raddysh
Ryan McDonagh-Charle-Edouard D'Astous
Declan Carlile-Max Crozier
Andrei Vasilevskiy is projected to start in goal; Jonas Johansson would be the backup.
The healthy scratch includes Curtis Douglas. Victor Hedman (elbow), Brandon Hagel (upper body), Erik Cernak (undisclosed) and Emil Lilleberg (undisclosed) are all out.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Bub Carrington showing out
We’re heading into the last full week of 2025, and there are plenty of useful options available on the waiver wire.
Washington’s second-year PG has emerged as a multi-faceted producer, while another young guard in Orlando has stepped up with multiple teammates sidelined.
Backup guards are the theme of this week’s waiver wire column, and guys in Utah, Houston, Sacramento and Memphis have offered strong numbers off the bench.
Big men get some love this week too, as Brook Lopez is back in our plans with Ivica Zubac on the shelf for the next three weeks and Jock Landale filling in admirably for Zach Edey.
→ Watch the NBA on Peacock on Monday night, as the Cavaliers host the Hornets at 7 p.m. ET before the Grizzlies and Thunder square off in Oklahoma City at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Here are the top fantasy basketball waiver wire adds for Week 10.
Priority Adds
1. Bub Carrington
2. Anthony Black
3. Isaiah Collier
4. Reed Sheppard
5. Dennis Schroder
6. Cam Spencer
7. Jake LaRavia
8. Brook Lopez
9. Jock Landale
10. Dominick Barlow
Reed Sheppard, Houston Rockets (42 percent rostered)
Sheppard is still available in nearly 60% of Yahoo! leagues, and he should be added wherever he can be found. Over his last four contests, he’s averaged 17 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 0.8 blocks and 4.0 triples across 30.8 minutes. Sheppard has a secure role as one of Houston’s first guys off the bench, and he’s shown that he’s more than just a three-point specialist.
Anthony Black, Orlando Magic (30 percent rostered)
Black has been great over his last 10 games, seeing an expanded workload with multiple key players injured. In that span, he’s averaged 16.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.7 blocks and 1.2 triples across 33.2 minutes. Black has started four straight, and he should be in line for more run with the first unit until Franz Wagner or Jalen Suggs return.
Dennis Schroder, Sacramento Kings (30 percent rostered)
Schroder has been coming off the bench in favor of Russell Westbrook at starting PG, but the former has been a strong option off the bench. Over his last two, Schroder has averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists, and he hit the game-winning triple in Sunday’s overtime victory against the Rockets. With Zach LaVine sidelined, Schroder should continue to see meaningful minutes off the bench.
Cam Spencer, Memphis Grizzlies (25 percent rostered)
Spencer has been tremendous in recent games, averaging a whopping 19.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.0 steals and 4.0 triples across 29.2 minutes. He started Saturday after returning from a one-game absence and delivered a 19/4/11 line across 37 minutes. Spencer may see his role reduced when Ja Morant and/or Vince Williams return from their respective injuries, but he’s done enough to earn additional playing time and should retain standalone value when that happens.
Bub Carrington, Washington Wizards (19 percent rostered)
Carrington has taken on a substantial workload for the Wizards, starting six straight games and logging 37 minutes a night. In that span, he’s averaged a healthy 17.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 triples. Washington may start to get healthy, but even when that happens, the Wizards would be wise to prioritize development over winning. Carrington has done enough to earn big minutes moving forward, and fantasy managers should add him now.

Isaiah Collier, Utah Jazz (15 percent rostered)
Collier should continue to come off the bench behind breakout Keyonte George, but the former has been great off the bench. As of late, he’s been particularly effective, posting averages of 12.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and an eye-popping 9.5 dimes across 27.8 minutes. He’ll likely continue coming off the bench, but he’s an excellent source of assists for managers in need of that scarce category.
Jock Landale, Memphis Grizzlies (12 percent rostered)
Over his last five games, Landale’s production has ticked up in the absence of Zach Edey. In that span, the backup big man has averaged 11.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.2 triples. He should stay involved in the Grizzlies’ frontcourt for as long as Edey is sidelined, making him a worthwhile addition in standard fantasy leagues.
Dominick Barlow, Philadelphia 76ers (10 percent rostered)
Barlow has been a regular member of the Sixers’ starting five all season, but he’s picked up his production over his last four outings. In those contests, Barlow has averaged 13.3 points, 5.8 boards, 1.3 dimes, 1.0 steals, 0.8 blocks and 0.5 triples. Philadelphia is one of the most injury-riddled teams in the Association, and Barlow should continue to see opportunities for as long as he’s available.
Jake LaRavia, Los Angeles Lakers (4 percent rostered)
LaRavia posted a double-double on Saturday night, as he and LeBron James were the lone bright spots in an ugly Lakers loss. Luka Doncic went down with a leg injury in that game, and now he, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura are banged up. LaRavia could be in line for big minutes if any of the three are forced to miss time moving forward. Marcus Smart remains a savvy add, too.
Brook Lopez, Los Angeles Clippers (4 percent rostered)
Ivica Zubac left Saturday’s win over the Lakers with a left ankle injury, and Lopez saw a season-high 25 minutes. In his expanded time on the court, BroLo finished with 11 points, five rebounds, two blocks and three triples. Zubac is expected to miss at least three weeks, and Lopez should be a useful option thanks to his three-point shooting and shot-blocking abilities.
Other options:Wendell Carter Jr. (36%), Saddiq Bey (35%), Maxime Raynaud (28%), Jaylon Tyson (28%), Mitchell Robinson (16%), Robert Williams III (7%), Noah Penda (1%)
Michigan coach search update: Wolverines hoping to make hire before bowl game
Patrick Kane's Potential Timeline for Return Announced
Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane remains sidelined with an injury that he tweaked on Dec. 13 against the Chicago Blackhawks and has missed the last four games.
The good news for the Red Wings is that they've gone 3-1 in his absence while getting offensive contributions from forward John Leonard, who was the leading goal scorer in the AHL when he was called up from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Following Detroit's 3-2 overtime victory over the Washington Capitals on Sunday afternoon, head coach Todd McLellan provided the latest update on Kane's condition, noting that while he will not be playing against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday evening, there's a good chance he could return soon afterward.
Bookmark The Hockey News Detroit Red Wings team site to stay connected to the latest news, game-day coverage, and player features.
"Patty has skated over the last couple of days, and he'll skate tomorrow on his own," McLellan said. "But we won't see him before Christmas. We've got one more game, and we play Carolina on the 27th if I'm correct. There's a chance there (that he will play), we'll see."
"He's improving".
Against the Blackhawks, Kane moved to within two goals of 500 in his Hall of Fame career, and he's also now just eight points away from tying Mike Modano to become the highest-scoring U.S. born player in NHL history.
The Red Wings face the Dallas Stars on Tuesday evening before returning to action on the 27th on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes.

College basketball poll: Michigan still No. 1, Duke tumbles in Top 25 rankings
Phils add another reliever, sign Zach Pop to one-year deal
Phils add another reliever, sign Zach Pop to one-year deal originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
The holiday season is upon us and the Phillies continue to add to their bullpen.
The club announced Monday that it signed right-handed reliever Zach Pop to a one-year deal.
Pop, 29, endured an injury-riddled 2025 season and spent time with three organizations. He was shut down in March with elbow discomfort and released by Toronto in early April.
Pop later signed a Minor League deal with Seattle, earned a call-up, then struggled out of the gate — allowing 11 earned runs in 6 2/3 innings — before being designated for assignment. He elected free agency and signed with the Mets, but made just one appearance before being DFA’d again in July.
Prior to last season, Pop produced mostly below-average results across stints with Miami and Toronto, posting a 4.45 ERA over 158 appearances.
Pop features a three-pitch mix — sinker, slider and cutter — and generates ground balls at a high rate. In 2025, his groundball percentage sat at 54.5 percent, driven by a 96.4 mph average sinker.
His best stretch came in 2022. Pop opened that season with Miami, posting a 3.60 ERA in 18 appearances before being dealt to Seattle in a four-player trade. With the Mariners, he allowed just four earned runs across 19 innings. The underlying numbers backed it up: a 39.3 percent chase rate, a 2.5 percent walk rate and a 5.6 percent barrel rate.
Pop profiles as a pitch-to-contact arm who is most effective when he’s living at the bottom of the zone and inducing soft contact.
It’s another low-risk addition for Dave Dombrowski and the front office. Pop becomes the 39th player on the Phillies’ 40-man roster. He does not have any Minor League options remaining and will compete for a bullpen spot this spring.
Milan’s Serie A match in Australia called off after ‘unacceptable requests’
Milan-Como was intended for Perth on 8 February
Asian Football Confederation wanted to impose conditions
The proposal to play a Serie A match between Milan and Como in Perth, Australia, has been cancelled due to football sanctions and conditions imposed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The game was set to become the first major European domestic league fixture to be played outside its home country but will now not go ahead because of the financial risks and last-minute complications.

Lilac Hill warmup, Alex Carey’s glovework and Pat Cummins’ control of Joe Root are key parts of the story
It’s not a complete exaggeration to say that Australia won the 2025-26 Ashes on 15 October 2024. That was when Cricket Australia announced the schedule for the series: Perth first, Brisbane second. Starting the series on the bounciest, most Kryptonicious pitches in Australia – and the only major venues where England haven’t won a Test since 1986-87 – was a masterstroke, especially as Australia also had a day-night advantage at the Gabba. By the time England reached more batting-friendly climes, many of their batters already had scrambled brains.
Continue reading...Wolves’ freefall leaves even Derby’s dismal record low a lofty goal
A side that once looked resilient has collapsed into historic futility, with Wolves now facing the grim task of avoiding the worst season English league football has ever seen
Saturday’s defeat at home to Brentford means Wolves have taken just two points for 17 games. No side in the entire history of English league football, in any division, has ever made a worse start than that. To reach 11 points, the record low for a Premier League season set by Derby County in 2007-08, would require a significant improvement.
How can this have happened? Wolves finished 16th last season, recovering after a dismal start. When Vitor Pereira took over on 19 December last year, they were second bottom on nine points from 16 games. They picked up 23 points from the final 22 games of the season and effectively ended any prospect of relegation with a run of six successive victories in the spring. How can a team go from averaging near enough a point a game to a 10th of that? The drop-off is extraordinary.

Bulls beat Hawks 152-150 in highest scoring game in NBA this season (and they didn't need overtime).
Defense? Who needs it?
Not the Chicago Bulls or Atlanta Hawks, who combined to score 302 points in regulation on Monday, a 152-150 win — just the eighth time in NBA history teams scored more than 300 points in regulation.
BULLS SURVIVE IN THE HIGHEST-SCORING GAME OF THE SEASON SO FAR

302 COMBINED POINTS! pic.twitter.com/ycnkbY27R9
Trae Young scored 35 points and nine assists to lead the Hawks in the loss. Jalen Johnson added 36 points with 11 rebounds and nine assists.
"It's kind of tough winning games when you give up 80 points in the first half," Johnson told the Associated Press. "It's kind of embarrassing in a sense. …. Hopefully we cut down on some of the things we're doing."
The last time a team scored 150 points in a game was November of 2023 — and it was Atlanta then, too.
Chicago was led by Matas Buzelis, who scored 28 points, but it was a balanced attack with nine Chicago players in double figures. Josh Giddey had 19 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds, one short of a triple-double.
What Red Sox' Willson Contreras trade could mean for Triston Casas
What Red Sox' Willson Contreras trade could mean for Triston Casas originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The Boston Red Sox filled a glaring void at the first base position Sunday, acquiring veteran Willson Contreras in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals.
That void existed because Triston Casas’ future with the club is uncertain. The soon-to-be 26-year-old played in only 29 games last season before suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in May. Injuries also plagued him throughout the 2024 season, limiting him to only 63 games.
So, does the Contreras addition leave Casas without a role for 2026? Not necessarily.
With Contreras expected to begin next season as the Red Sox’ primary first baseman, Casas will have time to shake off the rust in Triple-A. The former top prospect still has minor-league options remaining.
If and when he returns to the big-league club, the left-handed-hitting Casas could split first base and designated hitter duties with the right-handed Contereras. Since Contreras is the superior defender, Casas in the DH spot would make sense if he can regain his 2023 form.
Casas’ path to an MLB return should become clearer in spring training when other question marks on the roster are addressed. For instance, Masataka Yoshida remains in the mix as a DH option, and the surplus of outfielders further complicates matters. Jarren Duran has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, but he’s another candidate to spend time at DH if he isn’t moved.
Craig Breslow and Co. could look to trade Casas, but given his injuries and lack of production over the last two years, his value couldn’t be much lower. Allowing the 2018 first-rounder to play his way back into an MLB role is the most reasonable solution, and the well-rounded Contreras provides the Red Sox with that flexibility.
Contreras, 33, will bring much-needed right-handed pop to Boston’s lineup. Excluding the shortened 2020 campaign, he has hit at least 20 homers in six of nine seasons. The former catcher notched career highs in doubles (31) and RBI (80) last season while posting a .791 OPS in 135 games.
Contreras is a solid addition, but the Red Sox should still aggressively pursue at least one more big bat this winter. They can still re-sign third baseman Alex Bregman, although their odds of doing so seem to only be getting worse. Free-agent infielder Bo Bichette is another intriguing option, and they have also been linked to Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte, free-agent slugger Eugenio Suarez, and Houston Astros infielder Isaac Paredes.
