Cameron Boozer’s 26 points and 12 rebounds led No. 5 Duke to another lopsided victory in a 93-56 romp past Howard on Sunday. Patrick Ngongba II added 16 points on 8-for-9 shooting and Isaiah Evans had 11 points for Duke (7-0). The hot-shooting Blue Devils were shooting above 70% from the field 30 minutes into the game, finishing at 67.7%.
Trevor Lawrence has just three completions in first half as Cardinals lead 14-10
To look at Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett in the first half today, you wouldn't know which was a No. 1 overall pick on a lucrative contract, and which was a career backup.
Lawrence is 3-for-8 for 51 yards in the first half. Brissett is 20-for-25 for 161 yards in the first half. The Cardinals lead, 14-10.
Although the 6-4 Jaguars are playoff contenders and the 3-7 Cardinals are not, so far today it's been the Cardinals who have looked like the better team. The Cardinals have 17 first downs to just five for the Jaguars, and a major difference comes from the kickers: Jaguars kicker Cam Little made his only field goal attempt, a 52-yarder, while Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland missed his only field goal attempt, a 33-yarder.
If the Jaguars can't turn things around in the second half, there will be big questions about whether this team is actually a playoff contender.
Mets trading Brandon Nimmo to Rangers for Marcus Semien
The Mets are making a blockbuster trade early in the offseason, trading outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers for infielder Marcus Semien, per SNY's Andy Martino.
The trade is a one for one swap.
Nimmo, 32, has spent his entire 10-year career in New York and signed an eight-year, $162 million contract extension in 2022, which included a full no-trade clause meaning he approved the move to Texas.
Semien, 35, is under contract through the 2028 season after he and the Rangers agreed on a seven-year, $175 million deal ahead of the 2022 season.
The second baseman who can also play shortstop and third base had a triple slash line of .230/.305/.364 with 15 home runs and 62 RBI in 127 games last season. His season ended in late August with a left foot contusion.
Semien's .669 OPS last year was the lowest of his career, but the Mets are hoping for bounce-back seasons from the veteran who helped the Rangers win their first-ever World Series in 2023.
Meanwhile, Nimmo enjoyed career-highs in home runs (25), RBI (92) and games played (155) in 2025 and saw his average climb back to .262 after an uncharacteristic 2024 in which he hit .224, his lowest average since 2019.
In 10 seasons with the Mets, the one time center fielder who was moved over to left field due in recent years totaled 135 home runs, 188 doubles and 463 RBI while slashing .262/.364/.438 for a .802 OPS.
Early in his career, Nimmo, drafted 13th overall in the 2011 MLB Draft, was known for his incredible eye and plate discipline which led to some great on-base percentages.
Later on, he found his power stroke and became a run producer for New York, often hitting in the three-hole or cleanup for manager Carlos Mendoza in 2025. Nimmo also became much more active on the base paths, stealing 28 bases over the last two seasons (more than half of his 54 career steals) and getting caught just once.
As for the trade, while the Mets added a veteran infielder to their roster they do not have another deal with a free agent outfielder close, per Martino. However, the move does allow New York more flexibility and room to make one if they choose.
The Mets also have a number of young outfield prospects that figure to be ready soon, including players like Carson Benge and Jett Williams (who can also play the infield).
In 13 seasons between the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays and Rangers, Semien has hit 253 home runs to go along with a .253/.321/.435 triple slash line.

Italy have been crowned Davis Cup champions for a third successive year, after victory over Spain. The two teams reached the final despite the absence of their respective star players Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in Bologna this week.
And it was Italy who retained their title after Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli won their singles matches on Sunday. Berrettini beat Pablo Carreño Busta 6-3, 6-4 in the opening contest and an entertaining tussle between Cobolli and Jaume Munar followed in which the Italian charged back to win 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5.

Following his contract termination on Saturday, Alexandre Texier has signed a new contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
Texier inked a one-year deal not long after he departed from the St. Louis Blues. This new contract pays Texier $1 million per year.
Montreal has been trying to manage a truckload of injuries on its roster, and bringing on Texier can give Martin St-Louis’ team some more depth and bodies.
Texier’s agent, Dan Milstein, announced the signing with a social media post on X.
The 26-year-old has played eight NHL games this season with the Blues. In that span, he recorded one assist, as well as a couple of penalty minutes.
With that, Texier has been averaging a career-low 10:15 of ice time this season. His ice time in a single match has gone as low as 5:33 on Oct. 18 in a win against the Dallas Stars.
His last NHL appearance came against the Buffalo Sabres on Nov. 6. Since then, he hasn’t featured for the Blues and was sent down to the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds on Friday.

Texier was a second-round pick by the Blue Jackets in 2017 and went on to play parts of five campaigns with them.
His best season statistically was in his final season with Columbus in 2023-24. He scored 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points while averaging 15:11 of ice time.
Not only was that a career-high in goals, assists and points, but also games played, featuring in 78 contests. In any other season in his career, he hasn’t come close to playing 78 regular-season games.

The New York Islanders will be without Alexander Romanov will be out 5-6 months. He will be having surgery on his right shoulder.
The injury occured after Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen hit him from behind with 27.3 seconds to play in regulation on Tuesday night.
Rantanen received a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct. Romanov needed assistance off the ice.
On Wednesday evening, Romanov was placed on injured reserve.

Rantanen Slapped With One-Game Suspension Following Recent Misconducts
Dallas Stars superstar Mikko Rantanen has been issued a one-game suspension by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety on Sunday.
This suspension is a result of Rantanen’s actions in Dallas’ last game against the Calgary Flames on Saturday. But it’s also related to what transpired in the late stages of the Stars’ contest against the New York Islanders on Nov. 18.
Against the Flames, Rantanen was handed a 10-minute game misconduct, among other penalties, for boarding right winger Matt Coronato.
Just two games before that in Long Island, Rantanen also received a 10-minute misconduct for boarding Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov.
The Islanders announced that Romanov will be out for 5-6 months and is required to undergo shoulder surgery as a result of the Rantanen hit.

NHL Player Safety provided a statement on Rantanen’s punishment.
“Dallas' Mikko Rantanen has been automatically suspended for one game under Rule 23.6, Physical Infractions Category,” they said. “In regular season League games, any player who incurs a total of two game misconduct penalties in the Physical Infractions Category, before playing in 41 consecutive regular season League games without such penalty, shall be suspended automatically for the next League game of his team.”
Rantanen will miss Dallas’ next game against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.
This suspension comes just a few days after Rantanen was fined $2,000 for embellishment. While he was slapped with the fine on Friday, this incident took place on Nov. 11 when Dallas took on the Ottawa Senators.
In 22 appearances this season, Rantanen has scored 10 goals and 28 points for the Stars. In addition to his elite ability to score and put up points, he now leads the NHL in penalty minutes, accumulating 57 in the campaign so far.

The Avalanche didn't play their best game against the Nashville Predators on Saturday night, but MacKenzie Blackwood made 35 saves on 35 shots to preserve a 3-0 Avalanche victory. They can win in multiple ways.
Scott Wedgewood will likely get the start against the Blackhawks. He has been incredible this season, as well. No matter what, the Blackhawks will have their work cut out for them in terms of putting the puck in the net.
Keeping the puck out of their own net may be an even tougher challenge, as the top players on Colorado don't need many chances.

Flames Set To Push Canucks in High-Scoring Shootout
On Sunday, we get an all-Canadian showdown to wrap up a strong six-game slate that rarely lands on a Sunday schedule. It is a welcome surprise filled with intriguing matchups, and the finale stands out as the most compelling. The Calgary Flames, who might finally be turning a corner after a dreadful start and two straight wins, take on the slumping Vancouver Canucks, who have lost five of their last six.

The Flames head into Sunday on the road after a surprising shootout win over the Dallas Stars on Saturday. This is the same Dallas team that just beat the Canucks 4–2 on Thursday. Using that comparison, it is reasonable to believe Calgary has a strong chance to handle Vancouver, and there are several other factors that point in the same direction. The Flames appear to be climbing out of the early-season slump that left them with only four wins in their first 18 games. They have now won two straight and have a real opportunity to build momentum with a third consecutive victory.
Many expect the Canucks to bounce back as they have won three of their last four meetings with Calgary, they are overdue for a win, and they return home with plenty of rest since they last played on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Flames are on the road and playing the second half of a back-to-back. Vancouver should put up a strong fight at home, which is part of the reason this matchup has the makings of a high-scoring game. These teams have combined for six or more goals in six of their last nine meetings.
Vancouver’s defensive struggles could push this toward the over on their own. They own the second-worst goals-against average in the league at 3.68, allowing 81 goals through 22 games. Because of this, Calgary should remain competitive throughout the night, but the safer approach is to take the two-goal cushion.
A $19.40 wager on this same-game parlay would return $24.25, giving us a total of $43.65 to work with heading into next week.
