Camp time! Warriors, Wolves prepare to open training camp

The Golden State Warriors were the last team standing when the NBA season closed in June. Thanks to a preseason trip to China, they are one of the first teams to get going this season as the league gets up and rolling again. The Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves will hold their media days on Friday and open training camps Saturday, a few days ahead of the rest of the league as they prepare for an early October trip to China for games in Shanghai and Shenzhen as part of the league’s ongoing efforts to grow the game in the basketball-crazy nation.

What will Bulls do with Dwyane Wade? John Paxson addresses the buyout rumors

While there are many questions surrounding what the Bulls will look like moving forward, one of the main ones surrounds their most recognizable player. How much longer will Dwyane Wade be a Bull? It’s been a question floating around all offseason as numerous rumors have indicated the team could buy Wade out of his contract and that Wade could even be pushing for that to happen  allowing him to move on to another team that has a better chance of winning a title.

Andrew Wiggins, Timberwolves progressing towards 5-year, $148 million extension

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Andrew Wiggins are progressing towards a five-year, $148 million contract extension, according to The Vertical’s Chams Sharania. The extension would begin next season in 2018, since Wiggins has one year remaining on his rookie deal. Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told Minnesota-based ABC5’s Darren Wolfson that the two sides were discussing the extension last week. The Timberwolves begin training camp on Saturday, meaning both sides have incentives to finalize an extension by then. Wiggins has spent three seasons in the league, winning Rookie of the Year in 2015. He has increased his scoring averages each season, recording 23.6 points per game last year on 45 percent

Even after re-signing Shabazz Muhammad, Timberwolves still want Dante Cunningham

Dante Cunningham was among the many free agents this summer who saw the ridiculous contracts handed out in the summer of 2016 and thought he was in line to get paid. Minnesota has been interested — and that has not changed despite the fact the Timberwolves re-signed Shabazz Muhammad, reports Darren Wolfson. Minnesota could offer two years, but that may not happen.

NBA Notes: Lakers to retire Kobe Bryant’s Nos. 8, 24 next season

LOS ANGELES — One retired jersey number just isn’t enough for Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers will retire Bryant’s No. 8 and No. 24 in a ceremony Dec. 18 during their game against Golden State, the franchise announced Tuesday. Bryant wore No. 8 from 1996 to 2006, when he switched to No. 24 for the remainder of a 20-year career spent entirely with the Lakers. He will be the 10th player honored by the Lakers with a retired number hung high on the Staples Center wall, but the first in NBA history to have two numbers retired by the same team. “Kobe’s jerseys are taking their rightful home next to the greatest Lakers of all time,” Lakers owner Jeanie Buss said. “There was never
