Heat’s Big 3 era ends as deal struck for Bosh to go: report

Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat, divided on whether or not the 11-time All-Star forward can keep playing after blood clots, have reached a tentative deal to part ways, ESPN reported Wednesday. Talks that included the NBA players union brought a final end to the “Big Three” era in Miami that saw LeBron James, now with reigning NBA champion Cleveland, and Dwyane Wade, now at Chicago, combine with Bosh to bring the Heat two titles and two other finals appearances in four seasons. Bosh, 33, failed a pre-season physical and missed this past season.

Chris Bosh, Miami Heat agree to part ways

The Miami Heat, Chris Bosh and the players’ association have tentatively agreed to a resolution that would allow all parties to move on, sources told ESPN on Wednesday. Bosh, 33, hasn’t played since February 2016 because of blood clot issues. He has remained on the Heat roster as the sides have worked through complex medical and legal issues in this delicate and unique situation. The agreement hasn’t been finalized as Bosh and his family, agents and lawyers are still reviewing documents. Both the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Miami Herald reported that the sides were in talks Tuesday. It’s a process that has played out since last fall, when Heat team doctors declined to clear Bosh to take

ASK IRA: Will Chris Bosh-Miami Heat resolution be a win-win for all involved?

A: And that timing certainly could help, with the Heat possibly to have cap space available to utilize in a trade at the June 22 NBA draft or before the July 1 start of free agency. When it comes to players who have trade kickers, that could be especially handy, being able to deal with them in 2016-17 terms, instead of 2017-18 costs. But, most importantly, it allows the Heat to move into free agency with a clear mind, without concerns about whether Bosh’s cap hit could resurface, possibly in the luxury tax, down the road. Considering the process with Bosh has impacted three seasons, and considering the Heat went through three similar seasons after Alonzo Mourning’s kidney diagnosis, if any team

Reports: Miami Heat, Chris Bosh have (or near) agreement removing him from roster, allowing comeback

Chris Bosh is never going to suit up for the Miami Heat again. A blood clotting issue that sidelined him a couple of seasons back never fully went away and Miami doctors would not clear him last season. Miami can waive him and apply for an injury hardship to get his salary taken off its cap (Bosh would still get paid, the contract is guaranteed, but it just wouldn’t count against the cap).

Report: NBA, NBPA nearing deal that will make Chris Bosh a free agent and grant the Heat cap relief

Two-time NBA champion and 11-time All-Star Chris Bosh could be a free agent soon, but at what cost? It seems the Miami Heat and Chris Bosh are nearing a conclusion to a contract situation that has become increasingly complicated over the past year due to their contrasting views about his health. The NBA and its players’ association are nearing a deal that would grant the Heat permanent salary cap relief from Bosh’s contract, even if he signs elsewhere, per the Sun-Sentinel’s Ira Winderman.

Miami Heat, Chris Bosh moving toward agreement that assures permanent cap relief

The Miami Heat and Chris Bosh are moving close to resolution that will allow the team to shed Bosh’s salary from its salary cap without concern of that figure returning to its cap, parties familiar with the proceedings confirmed to the Sun Sentinel. Bosh was sidelined this past season when he failed a preseason physical, after missing the second half of the previous two seasons due to blood clots. The Heat, NBA and National Basketball Players Association have been working toward a resolution that bridges the collective-bargaining agreement that expires June 30 and the one that goes into place on July 1. Under the CBA in place until June 30, if Bosh returns to the league his salary-cap hit could

Warriors sweep Spurs to win West, enter third straight NBA Finals undefeated

Stephen Curry celebrates on the bench in the second half of the Warriors’ Game 4 victory over the Spurs. After losing Saturday to fall into an 0-3 hole in the 2017 Western Conference finals, Manu Ginobili offered a simple and plain assessment of what his San Antonio Spurs needed to be able to extend their season by taking a game off the full-strength-and-rampaging Golden State Warriors. Neither happened on Monday night in San Antonio.
