Warriors’ Mike Brown ‘eventually’ wants to be head coach again

Warriors’ Mike Brown ‘eventually’ wants to be head coach again

Kerr’s lead assistant, Mike Brown appeared done as an NBA head coach.

[…] as he prepares to shepherd the Warriors into the NBA finals, Brown is back on front offices’ radars.

A detail-oriented workaholic, Brown, 47, has thrived as the Warriors’ acting head coach.

The only time the Warriors have been seriously threatened under Brown came in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, when they dug a 25-point, first-half hole before an injury to Kawhi Leonard eventually paved their comeback.

Multiple times a day, Brown consults with Kerr about everything from game plans to practice schedules to scouting reports.

“We’ve had a good run so far, but it’s not over,” said Brown, who is readying to face a Cleveland franchise he once led to the 2007 NBA Finals.

Asked if he would turn down potential head-coaching opportunities to remain an assistant with Golden State, Brown had a one-word answer: “Yes.”

The former second-round pick from UCLA has played for nine teams and never signed a contract that lasted more than two years.

Warriors take issue with complaints about NBA’s lack of parity

Warriors take issue with complaints about NBA’s lack of parity […] as they prepare for their third straight NBA finals against Cleveland, Golden State players are taking issue with the notion that their dominance has made the playoffs less appealing for viewers. To set up the first NBA finals trilogy, the Warriors and Cavaliers steamrolled through the first three rounds. While the Warriors lead playoff teams with an average margin of victory of 16.3 points, the Cavaliers are second at 13.6. A rash of blowouts has fueled NBA fans’ calls for more parity. […] Stephen Curry doesn’t want fans to mistake lopsided wins for a clear route to the finals. Some upset fans have scapegoated Kevin Durant, who left Oklahoma City last July to sign with Golden State, for the NBA’s lack of parity. Instead of dismissing games as boring, Green reckons that NBA fans should embrace another Warriors-Cavaliers Finals.
