Former Arsenal and Germany forward Lukas Podolski is considering legal action after conservative website Breitbart published his photo in an article about illegal immigration.

The online article was headlined “Spanish Police Crack Gang Moving Migrants on Jet-Skis”, with a picture showing Podolski on a jet ski which had been taken at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil where the German team were relaxing during a day off.

Leicester condemn fans for homophobic chanting in Brighton game

  • Club confirm fans were removed from King Power Stadium during match
  • Police say two Leicester fans were arrested for homophobic chants

Leicester City have condemned the homophobic chanting that took place against Brighton & Hove Albion after confirming some of the club’s supporters were removed from the stadium during match on Saturday.

According to witnesses, the abuse began in the closing stages of the game the hosts won 2-0. Following the match, fans of both clubs voiced their concerns on social media.

Hal Robson-Kanu seals West Brom win over Burnley then sees red for elbow

Tony Pulis will review video footage of Hal Robson-Kanu’s dismissal at Burnley before determining whether to appeal against the West Bromwich Albion match-winner’s red card.

The Wales international became just the fourth player in Premier League history to come off the bench, score and be sent off in a lively 20-minute cameo that earned Albion their second straight 1-0 success.

England’s Lucy Bronze joins European champions Lyon from Manchester City

The England defender Lucy Bronze has left Manchester City Women to join the European champions Lyon after admitting she “needed a new challenge”.

The 25-year-old right-back was nominated on Thursday for FIFA’s women’s player of the year award, and is the current Professional Footballers’ Association women’s player of the year.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has laughed off Diego Costa’s suggestion that he has been treated like “a criminal” and says the striker is in “the past”.

The 28-year-old Brazil-born Spain international, who signed for £32m from Atlético Madrid in July 2014 after agreeing a five-year contract, wishes to return to the Spanish capital and re-sign for the La Liga club.

Championship roundup: Sunderland draw and Norwich sink QPR

Sunderland’s Championship credentials were put to the test but they emerged with credit after a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

After a horrible campaign last year, and a pre-season littered with problems, the Black Cats were not fancied to be much of a threat on their return to the second tier but under the guidance of the streetwise Simon Grayson they took four points from their opening two league games.

Lewis Grabban double fires Sunderland past his old side Norwich

Lewis Grabban came back to haunt his former club as Sunderland came away from Norwich with three points from an excellent 3-1 win. The on-loan Bournemouth striker scored twice either side of a superb effort from Aiden McGeady to help the visitors to their first Championship success of the season.

Grabban also scored a late own goal to provide some consolation for Norwich, who deserved better, but it was Simon Grayson’s side who ended up with a win to go with their opening-day draw.

Carabao Cup second-round draw mix-up leaves clubs baffled

Confusion reigned in the second-round draw for the Carabao Cup on Thursday night.

Drawn in the Sky Sports studios by Alex McLeish and John Salako, alongside the host Julian Warren, things appeared to go awry early on during the Southern part of the draw.
