Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed he is still motivated by his falling out with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.

Guardiola brought Ibrahimovic to the Camp Nou in 2009 but the relationship between the pair broke down and he was loaned to Milan after only a season before making the move permanent.

Phil Jones withdraws from England’s squad to face Germany with injury

• Manchester United defender denied first England appearance for 16 months
• No immediate plans for calling up replacement for Germany trip

Phil Jones has pulled out of the England squad after picking up an injury in training before the trip to Germany for the friendly in Dortmund on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old was hoping to make his first international appearance since November 2015 after an injury-disrupted period at Manchester United. However, Jones has been forced to withdraw after his latest knock in training.

Bastian Schweinsteiger joins Chicago Fire from Manchester United

• Chicago Tribune reports midfielder’s $4.5m move to MLS club
• Bastian Schweinsteiger made only four appearances for United this season

The midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has completed his move to the Chicago Fire from Manchester United.

The German World Cup winner will move to the Major League Soccer club on a one-year contract. The 32-year-old Schweinsteiger was quoted in the Chicago Tribune as saying: “Throughout my career, I’ve always sought opportunities where I hoped to make a positive impact and to help make something great. My move to Chicago Fire is no different.”

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard facing fitness race for visit of Manchester City

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard will miss Belgium’s international matches this week owing to a calf injury, and faces a race to be fit for Chelsea’s next two Premier League matches against Crystal Palace and Manchester City.

The 26-year-old forward sat out the 2-1 win at Stoke on Saturday, and Belgium coach Roberto Martinez revealed the midfielder will be on the sidelines for the next 10 to 15 days with a calf injury.

Koeman criticises Lukaku and warns Everton will not be held to ransom

• Koeman tells Ross Barkley to sign new contract or be sold

Ronald Koeman is not prepared to be held to ransom by his Everton players, having insisted he is “not afraid” of Romelu Lukaku’s contract situation and warned Ross Barkley to sign a new deal or be sold.

The Dutchman was angered by Lukaku saying his desire to play in the Champions League and win titles, combined with Everton’s failure to attract the best players, are the reasons behind his decision not to sign a new contract which his agent claimed was “99.9%” done.

The Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is worried about the possibility of the Italian giants being drawn to play Leicester in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Both clubs reached the last eight on Tuesday night, with Buffon’s Serie A-leading Bianconeri moving past Porto 3-0 on aggregate, while Leicester mounted a second-leg comeback to edge out Sevilla 3-2.

Europa League round-up: Lacazette gives Lyon advantage against Roma

• Lyon beat Roma 4-2 in France
• Schalke and Borussia Mönchengladbach finish 1-1 in all-German match

Nabil Fekir and Alexandre Lacazette fired late goals as Lyon hit back to beat Roma 4-2 at the Stade des Lumières. Roma struck twice through Mohamed Salah and Federico Fazio to lead at half-time after Mouctar Diakhaby had given Lyon an early lead.

The Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso restored parity early in the second period and, after Fekir had put the French side ahead, Lacazette added a crucial fourth in stoppage time.
