Nets begin second half of season in Charlotte

Welcome back! The Brooklyn Nets are back in action after a week, and they needed the time off in the worst way. They went into the break on a seven game losing streak following their loss to the Indiana Pacers last Wednesday. The first opponent of the second half will be the Charlotte Hornets. It’

Four Nets give perspective on first half

Evaluate the first half of the season however you’d like, but the only thing that really matters is that the Brooklyn Nets are 19-40 at the All-Star break. As Bill Parcells used to say, “you are what your record says you are.” The Nets weren’t playing that bad in the beginning of the season.

Are Nets working to boost Jahlil Okafor’s confidence level?

No Jahlil Okafor again Thursday night, the fourth straight game the new big man sat since getting traded last week, two while his teammates were in Mexico City and now two that he’s sat in Brooklyn. What’s with that? Kenny Atkinson says the organization is still getting Okafor (and Nik Stauskas

Joe Harris getting his shots, getting respect

Joe Harris is taken for granted. He isn’t a flashy ball-handler, vocal personality or a jump-out-the-gym highflier with elite athleticism. He’s 26, not 19 or 21 or 22. His expiring $1.5 million contract doesn’t isn’t very exciting either. What he’s always had is a good head on his

Allen Crabbe: Sharpshooter at work

It’s about an hour ahead of tip-off. Allen Crabbe enters the Barclays Center main court wearing a black Brooklyn Nets warm-up. He looks up at the arena ceiling, possibly taking in the moment. DeMarre Carroll is already shooting around prior to their 7:30 p.m. contest against the New York Knicks.

JLin, KMart talk and (finally) it’s all good

A lot has been made of this whole Kenyon Martin and Jeremy Lin hair debacle but after the two talked, it seems the issue has been resolved, player-to-player. Lin revealed the discussion after the Nets beat the Knicks at Barclays Center. “He reached out…

The ‘Fro is from the 70’s but the game is very much now

At about 2 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon, 16 hours after his NBA debut, the Nets’ 6’11” rookie center Jarrett Allen taking jumpshots from the left elbow, each shot followed by a word of encouragement … and a return pass … from head coach Kenny Atkinson. It was non-stop. Immediately after

Preseason Game Realization: Trevor Booker Will Again Lead the Nets in Rebounding

Rebounding could be an issue for the Brooklyn Nets this season. That’s where a guy like Trevor Booker will be a big help. Booker can be an animal on the boards. If anyone forgot that, Tuesday’s preseason game against the New York Knicks was a pleasant reminder. Booker went bonkers on the boards

Atkinson on LeVert: “Maturity beyond his years”

Let’s talk about the guy who wasn’t there Tuesday night at the Garden. Kenny Atkinson did before the Knicks game … but in a way you might not expect. Any talk about leadership in the Nets’ locker room has been centered around DeMarre Carroll and Jeremy Lin. After all, Kenny Atkinson did

At the two, for the three: Joe Harris

To a certain degree, Joe Harris has been the forgotten man among all the guards and wings on the Nets roster. He missed the last quarter of the season with a concussion and a shoulder injury. And of course, since the end of last season, the Nets traded for D’Angelo Russell, DeMarre Carroll and Allen

DeMarre Carroll is ready to prove he’s more than a salary dump

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — DeMarre Carroll hasn’t sounded like a player that’s been salary-dumped on the league’s worst team. Nope. Rather, he sounds like a veteran leader who has something to prove, especially after two years of lingering injuries. Carroll told reporters at Media Day that this is
